Unlocking Datong through Jixia Mountain. Upon arriving in Datong, Shanxi, I was deeply struck by the quality of Jixia Mountain. The hotel's texture design resonates with the ancient city walls, as if the years of the Northern Wei Dynasty were woven into the building's bones. Local unearthed artifacts at the corners and ancient patterns on the walls make every step echo with history. When checking in, the butler proactively carried my luggage and patiently explained how to explore the ancient city. Even the welcome tea was warm local Fu tea, full of thoughtful details; the prompt response to any call, unobtrusive yet attentive, made the stay much more reassuring. What amazed me was the huge mural on the pool dome. Swimming under the blue-toned light and shadow felt like gazing into the thousand-year history of the ancient capital; at night, the flickering candlelight and the bar’s glass window reflecting the silhouette of distant grottoes locked Datong’s depth and romance into one space. It turns out a good stay is never just a rest stop, but an immersive touch of a city’s soul. Here, even the air carries the breeze of the Northern Wei. This trip to Datong is complete because of Jixia Mountain.
