In the early Southern Song Dynasty, the descendants of Jiang Ziya, the Lu family, moved to Dongyang and thrived. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Lu family became a prominent family known for their literary achievements. It is said that the Lu family produced 8 jinshi (successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations), 28 juren (successful candidates in the provincial imperial examinations), over 120 officials, and over 30 people who were recommended for official positions. The family is known for its stories of "three phoenixes from the same womb," "two dragons leaping together," and "grandfather, father, and son all passing the imperial examinations." As a result, the Lu family was known as a prominent family in Wuzhou and built many grand residences, witnessing the glorious period of private residences. After more than 300 years of continuous construction, Luzhai has become a complete residential complex from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Walking into Luzhai is like traveling through time and entering a scene from a film or TV drama. Luzhai, with its exquisite ancient architecture, is an ideal location for filming. It has been the filming location for over 30 films and TV dramas, including "Joy of Life 2," "The Opium War," "Yongzheng Dynasty," "Dismissal of Hai Rui," "April Rhapsody," and "The Granary." Wearing Hanfu and taking photos here adds a unique charm. Luzhai is known as the "Living Dongyang Woodcarving Museum," where woodcarving art is displayed to the fullest, with lifelike depictions of birds, animals, mythical creatures, war scenes, and flowers.
