Caves of the Thousand Buddhas, Dunhuang

UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Mogao Caves is an important tourist attraction. You can go there independently or as a part of a tour group. When we arrived at the tourist center (9am), we've been told that the next English tour group will be only available at 11am, so we decided to go to the caves by ourselves. Before we got on the bus to the caves we watched 2 movies about this place and it was very interesting and informative. The place wasn't too busy, but we saw many people following the tour guides (both groups and private). For us, the virtual tour that we watched in the cinema was enough and we just enjoyed the caves, without going too deep into the details. The caves are really impressive, but you are not allowed to take pictures inside them. In the tallest building you can see the Big Buddha which left us out of words. Overall, it's an awesome place, you must see it if you are doing a tour of the Silk Road, but if you want a free English tour in there make sure you arrive at the right time! #travelinspiration#awesomepic#couplestrip#historicculture#urbanexplorer
