The Liang Clan of Dadu Village

Half of the residents of Dadu Village in Chencun, Shunde, have the last name Liang. Due to war, the Liang ancestor Yixing Gong migrated from Jinjiang, Fujian, to Shunde via Shaoguan. Today, there are four Liang ancestral halls in the village, the largest of which is the Liang Clan Ancestral Hall. The Liang Clan Ancestral Hall was first built 600 years ago and rebuilt 200 years ago. The most recent renovation was 20 years ago, which took two years and cost more than CNY 1.1 million. Nearly 10,000 villagers gathered for the celebration after the renovation in 2006. Descendants of the Liang clan now gather at least twice a year, on the sixth day of the first lunar month and during the Qingming Festival. The sixth day of the first lunar month is the day for the newborn's clan initiation ceremony.
