Revisiting Guangzhou Haizhu Shixiang Garden

#Guangzhou Attractions Shixiang Garden, located at No. 3 Huaide Street, Geshan Village, Jiangnan Avenue, Haizhu District, was built around 1856. It is the former residence of Ju Chao and Ju Lian, two famous flower and bird painters in the late Qing Dynasty, and is also the birthplace of the Lingnan School of Painting. In addition to living in Shixiang Garden, the Ju brothers also took in disciples and taught painting here, cultivating a large number of modern art talents. Among them, Gao Jianfu and Chen Shuren, two of the three great artists of Lingnan, were both students of the Ju brothers. Ju Chao and Ju Lian were famous for their paintings of flowers and birds, so they planted more than ten kinds of aromatic plants for scholars to appreciate and sketch. Thus, this place got a poetic and elegant name "Shixiang Garden". Although Shixiang Garden is not large in area, it has diverse scenery and an architectural style with Lingnan characteristics. There is a garden water system with a different scene at every step in the garden, Lingnan-style screens, large and small exhibition halls decorated with Manchurian windows, and a water-friendly platform under the corridor... Here you can feel its elegance and tranquility, enjoy the flowers, appreciate the buildings and garden scenery, and take photos. It is especially suitable for ancient-style photography.
