The designer was Tsumaki Yorinaka, one of the three great masters of Meiji architecture. Tsumaki Yorinaka also worked on the decoration of Yokohama's Red Brick Warehouse and Nihonbashi Bridge. The Handa Red Brick Building is a building with extremely unique structures, such as hollow compound walls and multi-arched floors, which are almost unheard of today, and there are very few remains of the beer factory, making it a valuable building.
