Sweet and round

A friend took us to this nearby Chen Tea House! This was my first time visiting this dessert shop which is famous for its taro balls and I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious taste. The menu has a wide variety of flavor combinations, with different sugar bases paired with their own taro balls. Friends who have difficulty making choices should be careful, haha. I really like the restaurant’s illustrated menu, it’s very cute and delicious. We chose two dishes to share among three people. First, we had a bowl of healthy hot mistletoe and lotus seed tea for $42. The ingredients can be taro balls or small balls. We chose the former. The mistletoe tea is fragrant and the lotus seeds are also soft. The three-color taro balls inside are really a surprise. They have a chewy texture and a real taste. They are the taro balls that suit my taste best in Hong Kong. The Grand Slam Grass Jelly $38 has a good balance of milk tea base and milk flavor! The inside is filled with three-color taro balls, grass jelly, red beans and pearls. The texture is smoky and chewy, and the taste is sweet and pleasant. This is definitely a taste that you will crave. It was so delicious that I took out a bowl of taro paste, red bean and grass jelly for $38 for Dad Che to taste! This dessert has a soy milk base, but I paid an extra $4 to switch to coconut milk. The taro paste is very fragrant and smooth, which goes well with the coconut milk. It is also very delicious with the smooth grass jelly and soft red beans.
