Hong Kong｜Visit Tap Mun on a Sunny Day

No matter the season, make sure to visit Tap Mun on a sunny day🩵. If Sai Kung is considered Hong Kong's backyard, then Tap Mun, this small island, is the backyard of Sai Kung. 🏝️ Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The island is home to only a few residents and a handful of restaurants. (For some reason, I always end up ordering the sea urchin fried rice, even though I don't like sea urchin. 😂 Maybe it's just an excuse to enjoy the milk tea here🧋—a classic Hong Kong-style tea that you must try. 😊) Unlike other tourist spots, Tap Mun isn't crowded with visitors, and thankfully, you won't find trash everywhere, which is a relief. What you will find here is a sapphire-blue sea🌊, friendly cows🐂, and occasionally some mischievous wild boars🐗. In the past, the cows on Tap Mun were overfed by humans, which caused them to lose their natural foraging abilities. As a result, they would slowly approach visitors, looking for food in backpacks or tents. (Nowadays, there’s management in place, and the cows are provided with extra grass, so incidents of them snatching food from visitors are less common.) I still remember one time when I left my backpack on the ground to take photos, only to find a little wild boar rummaging through it for food. Animals are incredibly smart these days, so make sure to keep your belongings secure. 🙈 🌟🌟🌟 If you see cows🐂 or wild boars🐗, please refrain from feeding them! Firstly, feeding animals can make them dependent on humans for food, disrupting their natural foraging abilities. Secondly, under Hong Kong law, feeding wild animals is illegal! Please don’t do it. 🌟🌟🌟 If time permits, consider staying until the evening to catch a breathtaking sunset🌄 before taking the ferry back. Transportation to Tap Mun: 1: 🚢 By Ferry Ma Liu Shui Pier — Tap Mun Take the MTR to "University Station" and exit at B. Walk for about 10 minutes to Ma Liu Shui Pier, then take the kaito ferry to Tap Mun. On weekdays, there are only two ferry trips per day, while on holidays, there are three trips per day. (Be sure to check the ferry schedule.) The ferry ride takes approximately 1.5 hours. 🌟 Besides the MTR, there are also many buses that pass by "Ma Liu Shui Pier." KMB: Route 74D (Kowloon Hang — Kwun Tong Pier) Route 82D (Pak Shek Kok — Tai Wai) 🌟 There are also circular bus routes like Route 582 (Pak Shek Kok — Shap Sze Heung). 🌟 Minibuses: Routes 806B, 806A, 29, 27B, 27A, 27, etc. All of these can drop you off at "Ma Liu Shui Pier," where you can transfer to the kaito ferry to "Tap Mun." 2: 🚌+🚢 (Bus + Ferry) Sai Kung Wong Shek Pier — Tap Mun From Sai Kung Bus Terminal, take Bus 94 to "Wong Shek Pier" Terminal, then transfer to the kaito ferry to "Tap Mun." On weekdays, there are seven ferry trips per day, while on holidays, there are twelve trips per day. (Please check the ferry schedule.) The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Occasionally, speedboats are available.
