Huzhou Museum was established in 1962 and currently has a collection of 10,612 artifacts (sets), including 37 first-class cultural relics and 141 second-class cultural relics. The museum's exterior is simple and bright, and the interior is spacious and well-lit, mainly featuring the following three basic exhibitions: Wuxing Ode - Exhibition of Huzhou History and Culture The world-renowned 'Wuxing Ode' is a work by the great Yuan Dynasty calligrapher Zhao Mengfu when he was in his twenties, praising the beauty of his hometown's landscapes and culture with rich and elegant words. The original manuscript is now housed in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. Huzhou Museum uses the 'Wuxing Ode' to trace the footsteps of predecessors and interpret the spirit and cultural essence of Huzhou. Huzhou is the earliest area in Zhejiang where human activities were recorded and is also a key area for the distribution of Neolithic culture in the Taihu Basin. During the Qin Dynasty, Wucheng County was established here, and later, Xiang Yu raised an army and led 8,000 soldiers from Huzhou's Fengsheng Gate. Huzhou silk, Huzhou tea, and Huzhou brushes are the most distinctive cultural symbols of Huzhou City. Life of Woodcut - Exhibition of Zhao Yannian's Art Zhao Yannian (1924-2014), a native of Huzhou, was a famous printmaking master in China. In March 2012, Zhao Yannian donated more than 1,000 of his works to his hometown museum. 'Life of Woodcut' showcases Zhao Yannian's woodcut works from different periods. Among them, the portrait art of Lu Xun is of the highest level and has received the most praise. Forgetting Both Things and Self - Exhibition of Ming and Qing Classical Furniture In 2013, Mr. Zhao Jingxin, who lived in Beijing, donated 23 pieces of Ming and Qing classical furniture to his hometown for free. These pieces of furniture were formerly owned by the famous contemporary historian and paleographer Chen Mengjia and his wife Zhao Luorui.
