Winter limited edition: Full of happy strawberries

Strawberry picking is a winter pleasure. In the cold season, red strawberries surrounded by green leaves soothe the soul. GRANBERRY DAICH, the largest aerial strawberry farm in Japan, is located in Joso City, in the western part of Ibaraki Prefecture. You may be surprised to hear this name, but here strawberries are grown not on the ground but in the air. When you enter the farm, the strawberries appear to be floating in the air. The strawberries are planted in hanging tanks, and their height can be adjusted to a position that is just right for customers to pick them. The ground in the facility is covered with a membrane, and the passageways are wider than normal facilities, so strollers and wheelchairs can pass freely. The shop in the farm sells souvenirs such as strawberry series cookies, popcorn, and strawberry tea. The strawberries sold here are freshly picked that day and are fully ripe, plump, soft and juicy.
