I've returned from Shaxi, let me share my experience and the super comfortable guesthouse!

Shaxi Ancient Town doesn't have the vibrant feel of Lijiang; it's more like a place steeped in time, perfect for a mindful, slow-paced visit. The ancient theater stage is essentially the center of Shaxi Ancient Town and was reportedly where merchant caravans and villagers gathered to watch performances. Right beside the theater is Yujin Bridge, where many people take photos. If you walk to the right of Yujin Bridge, there's actually quite a long path with fewer people, making it great for photos too! We also made flower cakes and tried tie-dye, mainly to give the little ones an experience. The beauty of Shaxi isn't in its hustle and bustle, but in the traditional charm that slowly emerges from its tranquility. There's no flashy commercialism here, just a place that truly allows you to slow down, listen to the wind, watch the clouds, and feel inner peace. If you're looking for a place to have a conversation with yourself, Shaxi would be a good choice.
