Staying in a Watercolor Painting in Jiaxing - This is the True Jiangnan!

Just wrapped up a spontaneous weekend trip to Jiaxing and stayed at the charmingly antique-style Yuehe Inn. Wandering through Yuehe and Nanhu Lake during the rainy season, I immersed myself in the misty, poetic Jiangnan scenery. The inn is located in the Yuehe Historical Block and spans an impressive 40 acres! Our room overlooked a small river, and in the early morning, a simple snapshot from the balcony captured the white walls, gray tiles, and little bridges—instantly evoking the feel of a Jiangnan watercolor painting. Upon check-in, a staff member personally escorted us through the corridors to our room instead of just pointing the way—a lifesaver for directionally challenged guests! Dinner and the buffet breakfast were served at the Yuebo Lou restaurant inside the inn. The floor-to-ceiling windows framed the beautiful scenery perfectly, creating an unbeatable ambiance. Surprisingly, they even served Cantonese dim sum like shrimp dumplings and steamed chicken feet—the shrimp filling was plump and bouncy! Local specialties like zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) and wonton soup were also available, with a broth that was delightfully fresh. Spending a weekend here, enveloped in the misty rain, is nothing short of the idyllic slow life of Jiangnan!
