Keelung's Fairy Cave: A Journey to Discover the Path of Immortals

Fairy Cave, located in Xian Dong Village, Zhongshan District, Keelung City, is said to be a place where immortals once practiced their path to ascend to heaven, hence the name "Fairy Cave." This natural sea-eroded cave was formed over tens of thousands of years by the impact and erosion of seawater, creating its unique and fascinating landscape. In earlier times, the cave faced the sea, and visitors inside could hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore, earning it the nickname "Fairy Cave Listening to the Tides." Unfortunately, this ambiance has disappeared since the construction of the port. Fairy Cave is about 80 meters deep, making it the largest sea-eroded cave in the Keelung area. Its exterior resembles a bell, and the pathways inside are arranged in a claw-like pattern, divided into the main cave, left cave, and right cave. The temple within the cave is bustling with worshippers. The left cave, stretching over 80 meters, is a favorite for those seeking hidden gems. Its narrow pathway allows only one person to pass sideways, earning it the name "Thread of Heaven." As you venture deeper, the path becomes narrower, requiring visitors to crouch or bend to proceed, offering a rare and adventurous experience. The most intriguing feature lies at the bottom of the cave, where rock formations resembling a "Fairy Table" and "Fairy Bed" spark imagination and add to the cave's mystique and charm.
