I stayed at a courtyard hotel in Lijiang Old Town

The fusion of Chinese and modern decor styles is truly magical. The location is superb, situated halfway up the mountain—perfect for walking off meals on the way back to the hotel. The moment you close the hotel door and shut out the outside noise is pure bliss. The afternoon tea is amazing—both delicious and Instagram-worthy, with bite-sized cakes. The second floor has a huge terrace overlooking the ancient town, making for stunning photos. Lijiang Old Town and Dali Old Town offer completely different scenery.
