Gucheng Waterfall in Lingao, Hainan

It takes just over an hour to reach Gucheng Waterfall in Lingao County from Haikou. There is no admission fee, and parking costs 10 yuan each time. Unlike most waterfalls that are deep in the mountains, Gucheng Waterfall was formed due to geological collapse in the plains. The road to the waterfall is relatively flat, and it takes less than ten minutes to walk from the parking lot. The waterfall is about 20 meters wide and 20 meters high, tightly surrounded by green vegetation. There are not many tourists, mainly elderly people. There is a viewing platform directly opposite the waterfall, with several large banyan trees growing underneath, their roots winding across the ground. Rocks are piled up by the water pool, with a few fern leaves scattered among the stones. If you have a choice, it is best to come at noon on a sunny day, when you will definitely see the Tyndall effect, which would be very nice. Unfortunately, it was overcast when I visited. Most of the large waterfalls I have seen in the past are deep in the mountains and require a long trek over hills and ridges to reach. Gucheng Waterfall, on the other hand, is suitable for all ages and easy to reach, making it a recommended spot for those who want to see a waterfall but have limited physical strength. Be careful as the ground is wet and slippery!
