The Lansdowne

The Lansdowne has one of those classic pub frontages which makes me glad to be a beer drinker. Although it’s partly obscured by awnings, you can see a Charrington logo with a pewter tankard and the date 1757 on it. The pale cream and brown of the tiles is reassuringly dated and that attractively slimline and wide font is there too. Indoors, The Lansdowne is one large room with the bar across the back wall. The floorboards are on show and the tables are all thick-set with matching chairs. One of the few features is a fireplace, and there’s a large mirror next to the bar, but otherwise, there’s little to grab the eye.
