Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura, Gunma

#cherryblossom25 Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura is what cherry blossom dreams are made of. Tucked in Gunma Prefecture at the southern base of Mt. Akagi, this place is a 1.3 km stretch lined with over 1,000 cherry trees, and it literally feels like walking through a pink tunnel. I came here because someone tagged it in #cherryblossom25 and I knew I had to see it for myself. There’s something magical about being surrounded by blossoms on both sides — and Mt. Akagi looming gently in the background only adds to the dramatic scenery. There was a local festival going on too, with food stalls selling everything from miso konjac to sakura-flavored mochi. The air was filled with the scent of flowers and festival food — not a bad combo. It’s a bit of a trip from Tokyo, but if you’re a blossom chaser like me, it’s 100% worth it. This was a major highlight of #cherryblossom25!
