The little-known free haven in Menglian County, Puer City - Mengwai Tusi Summer Resort (Part One)

Address: 8 kilometers from Nanyun Town, Menglian County, Puer City 'Mengwai' in Dai language means a place that is easy to ascend to heaven. Surrounded by mountains and waters, with springs crisscrossing, it is an area with a strong Dai water culture atmosphere. In 1492 AD, the seventh Tusi (local chieftain) of Menglian, Dao Paiyao, abdicated due to illness and chose Mengwai as his hermitage. Subsequent generations of Tusi also often came here to escape the summer heat, hence the name Tusi Summer Resort. There is also a Buddhist temple in Mengwai Village, which is the center of Dai culture dissemination. The architecture, sculptures, and murals inside the temple all embody the devotion of Dai believers. The climate here is that of a tropical rainforest, suitable for travel all year round, especially in summer. Due to its higher altitude and dense vegetation, the temperature in Mengwai is 4 to 5 degrees lower than in Menglian County, making it an ideal summer retreat. 🌈 Recommended reason: Very few people know about it, it's an unspoiled place.
