HAWA MAHAL - JAIPUR

Intro - It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh of Jaipur, grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, founder of the city of Jaipur.[1] He was inspired by the unique architecture of Khetri Mahal to build this great historical palace. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. Its five-story high facade resembles a honeycomb with 953 small windows called Jharokha, decorated with intricate grids. Attractions - This is a five-story pyramid-shaped monument, about 15 meters high. However, the upper three floors are only about the size of a single room, while the first and second floors have front porches. Seen from the street, this structure resembles a giant beehive with small windows. Each window is narrowed in view by intricately carved sandstone lattice structures, capitals and domes. It gives the appearance of a large number of octagonal compartments, giving this structure a unique character.
