Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine

Nagaoka Tenman-gū Shrine, is this name unfamiliar to you? It is located in Kyoto. It is an old Shinto shrine famous for praying to the god of learning. The scenery is beautiful, especially when #azaleas bloom in bright red around mid to late April. You have to take the Hankyu Railway. If you want to go here, you can use the Hankyu Tourist Pass. How to get there From Umeda Station (HK01), take the Hankyu (Limited Express) on the green Kyoto Line and get off at Nagaoka Tenjin Station (HK77). It takes less than half an hour to get there. When you arrive at Nagaoka Tenjin (HK77), take the West Exit from the station and make a U-turn. Walk until you reach the intersection, turn right and walk straight until you reach Nagaoka Tenman-gū Shrine. You will see a torii gate, which means you have arrived. ^^ As soon as you pass through the first torii gate, you will see a thousand-year-old rose, or what the Japanese call a tsutsuji flower, which is blooming beautifully in a row about 200 meters from north to south, and various types of azaleas around the pond. Hachijouga-ike is beautiful. The azaleas here are reddish orange. The bright red contrasting with the sky would be even more beautiful. Too bad the sky wasn't so beautiful the day I went. Walking a little further is the main shrine of Nagaoka Tenmangu, which worships the spirit of Sugawara no Michizane, the god of education in Japan.
