A Trainspotters Dream, Everything You Need To Know about HSR in Japan 🚆 🇯🇵

Japan is famous for many things and its incredible high speed rail network is one of those things. The Shinkansen system gave birth to what we all now know as high speed rail, this museum gives you a fascinating glimpse into the history of the system and also the future in the form of the Maglev. The entrance hall contains three full scale trains and a big screen showing the history of the Shinkansen, if you head up the stairs to the viewing platform you can see the whole screen. Then proceed to the main hall where there are numerous trains from Japan’s history, all immaculately restored. The highlight for me was the huge model railway that incorporates Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo - so many trains and so many landmarks! It has high speed rail, metro and suburban rail - all bustling away like clockwork You can also do the train driver simulator for an extra fee and there’s also a small kids play area inside ( train themed of course!) It’s at the end of the Aonami line which you can get from the back of Nagoya station, it’s about half an hour and it’s the last stop. It’s the same stop as Legoland, it’s called Kinjo Futo. It is open 10:00 - 17:30 and is closed every Tuesday, this is good as most museums and galleries close on a Monday - so I’d you’re out of things to do in a Monday this is the place to go!
