Wang Long Bay: A Quiet Corner on Phi Phi Don

If you're looking for a place away from the crowds of tourists where you can experience the true tranquility of Thailand, Wang Long is perfect. Unlike bustling Tonsai or the famous Maya Bay, it has a unique atmosphere: turquoise water, majestic rocky shores, and a near-total solitude. What particularly impressed me: The unique shape of the bay. Wang Long seems hidden in the embrace of massive limestone cliffs—its outline resembles a semi-enclosed natural amphitheater. The narrow entrance creates the feeling of entering a secret place, cut off from the outside world. As the boat passes through this "portal," a calm expanse of water suddenly opens up before you, surrounded by vertical cliff walls. The effect is truly cinematic! The water. Amazingly clear—you can see every pebble on the bottom. However, I didn't go swimming because there were a ton of jellyfish in the water. So, admire the beauty from a distance! The cliffs. The mighty limestone cliffs look majestic in daylight. Their intricate contours, sculpted by wind and sea, create a mesmerizing play of light and shadow. In some areas, you can see impressive cave niches and ledges where seabirds nest. Tranquility. No pushy vendors, no loud music. Only natural sounds: the sound of waves, the cries of birds, and the gentle rocking of the boat. We entered the bay during a longtail boat tour around Phi Phi Don Island. Our captain knew the perfect spots for the most spectacular shots. If you're planning a self-guided trip, check with the boatmen in advance to make sure Wang Long Bay is included in the itinerary—not all standard tours do. Try to spend at least 20–30 minutes in the bay: this is the only way to truly experience its unique atmosphere and take photos from different angles.
