Hue Imperial City

The Hue Imperial City (Đại Nội Huế) is the royal palace of the Nguyen Dynasty in Vietnam, located on the north bank of the Perfume River. It is one of the most well-preserved royal architectural complexes in Vietnam. Built between 1802 and 1833, the Imperial City was designed based on the layout of the Chinese Forbidden City, incorporating Vietnamese characteristics. It features majestic palaces, walls, and courtyards, showcasing the splendor of the former royal family. The Imperial City is divided into different areas, including the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Forbidden Purple City, the Temple of Ancestors, and the Royal Garden. Each structure holds deep historical and cultural significance. The Hall of Supreme Harmony, with its golden splendor, was the site of major ceremonies held by the emperor, while the Forbidden Purple City was the residence of the royal family. Despite suffering damage during the war, the grandeur of the past can still be seen. Walking through the Imperial City, one can feel the strong royal atmosphere and admire the exquisite carvings and architectural art. This ancient city is not only a symbol of Hue but also an important site for exploring Vietnam's feudal history and culture, making visitors feel as if they have traveled back to the imperial era.
