Santorini Travel Itinerary – A Special Day at Red Beach

One of the moments I was most looking forward to during my Santorini trip was visiting Red Beach. When you think of Santorini, the usual image that comes to mind is the blue domes, white walls, and the deep blue Aegean Sea. However, Red Beach offers a completely different atmosphere, which made me eager to see it for myself. True to its name, the beach is surrounded by striking red cliffs that create a dramatic backdrop, with crystal-clear waters stretching below. The contrast of colors was truly breathtaking. To reach the beach, you need to park your car and walk a bit. The path is uneven, so wearing sneakers instead of sandals or flip-flops is much more comfortable. As you walk down the trail, the red cliffs gradually come into view, and the scenery feels so exotic that it’s almost like stepping onto another planet. The beach itself isn’t very large, but the water is so clear that many visitors were enjoying swimming, while others were sunbathing on the rocks. Although I didn’t go into the water, I spent a lot of time taking photos with the stunning combination of cliffs and sea as the backdrop. I visited in the late afternoon, and the sunlight made the cliffs appear even redder, creating a truly spectacular view. After seeing Santorini’s iconic white and blue scenery, Red Beach added a vibrant touch to the trip, making the experience feel more diverse. I was glad I included it in my itinerary. However, the beach is mostly made up of pebbles and rocks, so finding a comfortable spot to sit was a bit challenging. If you’re planning your trip, I recommend visiting Red Beach during the daytime before heading to Fira or Oia for the sunset.
