2024 Seoul Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in September)
Seoul is the capital city of South Korea. The temples and palaces of this city tell a long and storied history. The magnificent natural landscape and modern skyscrapers merge together to form a city which is both young and cultured. Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces are ancient palaces, while Bukchon Hanok Village and Namsangol Hanok Village are well-preserved traditional Korean villages. Seoul is a shopping paradise. In Myeong-dong, Dongdaemun Market, Sinsa-dong and Samcheong-dong, you can find all kinds of cutting-edge fashions, including clothing, jewelry and make-up. Once night falls, Seoul is even more magnificent. Climb atop the YTN Seoul Tower to feast your eyes on the city's glittering nightscape. The Han River is the background of many beloved Korean soap operas. Seoul's delicious food is not to be missed. Bibimbap, kimchi and Samgyetang (Korean ginseng chicken soup) are all delicious in their own right.

Golden Hour Bliss: Autumn Sunset at Olympic Park, Seoul
#bestsunset #100waysoftravel #southkorea #seoul #olympicpark #olympicparkseoul #koreaautumn #silvergrass
Our encounter with the beautiful sunset at Olympic Park in Seoul was truly unforgettable. As the sun set, the autumn silver grass swayed gently in the breeze, glowing under the golden light, creating a scene so mesmerizing it took our breath away. The sky transformed into hues of orange and pink, casting a magical glow over the landscape. Walking through the fields, surrounded by the beauty of nature, we were completely immersed in the peacefulness of the moment. It was a perfect blend of nature's charm and autumn's beauty, leaving us deeply moved by the serene atmosphere.

A luxury hotel in Gangnam, Seoul.
📍 Located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, it is very convenient to travel! Gangnam is a bustling area in Seoul with many commercial facilities, restaurants, cafes, etc.
The room type is loft, which is larger, and the living room has a large L-shaped sofa. The view from the window on the first floor is beautiful, and the balcony overlooks the outdoor swimming pool
The second floor is a double bed, the bathroom space is designed to be intimate, equipped with a double-sided basin, and the bathtub experience is very good
The hotel style is aesthetically pleasing, with a large number of red brick elements and a light retro luxury style. The indoor swimming pool is also very photogenic, and there is a gym and sauna room
Namsan Forest during autumn season 🍁

#100waysoftravel
It has been 3years since our last visit to Korea, I still cannot get over with the beauty it has to offer! We came by this Namsan Tower area and was not expecting anything more than a tower, we went through the long and difficult way to go up to the observatory desk up the hill.
We pass by this lovey Namsan forest along the way, notice there are also some people are jogging and running their way up. We enjoyed the autumn beauty of Korea and it will be always in our memory!
Seoul, South Korea | 3 days of shopping and eating are enough!
💕 If you don't want to run around sightseeing in Seoul, just shop and eat, 3 days including Friday and the weekend are definitely enough.
✈️ In terms of transportation, the most convenient way is from Shanghai Hongqiao to Gimpo. Once you arrive at Gimpo, there is a direct subway to Hongdae, which only takes 30 minutes and you can use the Tmoney transportation card. When taking the plane, it is recommended to choose a seat near the front row, and walk quickly to the customs after getting off the plane, so that there are fewer people in line, and you can get through customs in about 15 minutes. However, there is no GM when returning to Gimpo Airport, and there are not many shops to visit.
🏠 For accommodation, it is highly recommended to stay in Hongdae. I personally think it is better to choose a hotel or a homestay with an elevator. I didn't pay much attention this time, and I found a homestay without an elevator. When I moved the boxes, I really had a little breakdown.
☕️ One of the characteristics of South Korea is coffee. I was in the rhythm of two cups a day there. Let me share with you a few coffee shops I have visited (ranked by personal preference):
1⃣️ Susanghan Bagel
The main thing here is that the bagels are super delicious! Especially the Qingyang Chili Scallion Bagel, which looks like a dark dish, but as long as you take a bite, you will definitely fall in love with it. Their coffee is also very good. It is very close to Hongdae, and it is very suitable as a breakfast check-in place.
2⃣️ Fritz
Their logo is a cute little seal. I had breakfast here for two days in a row. The coffee in Seoul is generally light, the kind of light roast, with a strong aroma but not a particularly strong coffee flavor. It is located near Hongdae.
3⃣️ Anthracite
It is said that this shop is in the top ten in the world, but I don't think it is much different from Fritz. It may be because I personally prefer coffee with a strong coffee flavor. I recommend everyone to go to the Hannam-dong store. You can have a cup after shopping.
4⃣️ OATS
I personally feel that their Viennese coffee is a bit too sweet, but the appearance is still very good, and the street in front of the store is super suitable for taking photos.
Oh, by the way, the atmosphere of coffee shops in South Korea is super good, and it is very suitable for taking photos with a Polaroid camera.
🥢 Food:
Soy crab must be the first! I recommend Pyeonghae's. There is also 24h potato pork bone soup, which is super popular, but there are too many people, and you have to queue for 3 hours. You can only wait on the spot, and there is no air conditioning. There are also relatively few seats. I can only give up in the end. I feel that the barbecue here is not much different from the Korean Street in Shanghai.
🎬 Shopping:
I highly recommend Hannam-dong, where shops are more concentrated. At the end of July, it is the discount season, and the discounts are quite attractive. However, it is also the rainy season, and the weather is hot and humid, even hotter than the plum rain season in Shanghai. Everyone should be mentally prepared.
A Paradise for Character Lovers! Pooh Pop-up Store Honey House.
Hot pop-up stores are famous enough to have lines of people waiting.
As a character lover, I visited the Honey House pop-up store.
From the entrance, it was filled with cute Pooh characters,
making it feel like stepping into a fairy tale. The pop-up store
was decorated with adorable details, making it a perfect place
for taking photos.
There was a wide variety of Pooh-related merchandise,
including plush toys, mugs, and stationery, making it fun to browse.
There were many limited edition products, and everything was so
cute that I wanted to buy them all.
The space was small compared to the number of people,
so it was crowded on weekends. It might be better to visit
popular pop-up stores on weekdays!

Exploring Seoul: Must-Visit Spot - Haebangchon
When I visited Haebangchon Market, I was struck by its unique atmosphere where tradition and modernity harmoniously coexist. As I walked along the market alleys, I noticed a mix of old shops and newly opened, characterful stores. The quaint market vibe combined with trendy cafes and eateries gave Haebangchon its distinctive charm.
In particular, the food I tasted at the small eateries within the market was heartwarming. The homemade dishes, though not flashy, were rich in flavor. There were also small craft beer pubs and vintage shops scattered around, offering visitors a special experience. Walking through the alleys, I encountered murals and art pieces, adding to the fun of exploring the market.
Despite its lively atmosphere, Haebangchon Market exuded a sense of relaxation and comfort. It was a place where the old and new coexisted, allowing for diverse cultural experiences and interactions with people. It had a unique charm that couldn't be felt in other parts of Seoul, making it a market I would love to visit again.
A luxury hotel in Seoul that is quiet and comfortable.
🏨 Four Seasons Hotel Seoul
🌟Highlights:
Located in Gwanghwamun, it has a superior location, close to Gyeongbokgung Palace and City Hall. It is in the financial center of Seoul, next to Myeongdong Lotte Duty Free Shop, and the business district, diplomatic district, historical sites, shopping and trendy blocks are all within easy reach.
❤Recommended reason:
Going up to the west village and north village around Gyeongbokgung Palace, there are western-style buildings and hanoks scattered in the blocks, not many pedestrians and vehicles, quiet street corner shops, and then going down is Myeongdong, where eating, drinking and playing are very concentrated!
Take a taxi through a tunnel to Hannam-dong, you can visit some fashionable shops!
🍽Dining recommendation:
The food is very rich, all kinds of Korean kimchi are delicious, the main food is pretty good, the fruit is rich, and the variety of breakfast is more than other five-star hotel breakfasts.
The drinks in the convenience store are surprisingly delicious. It feels like peeled green grapes are squeezed into juice. It is very refreshing. Everyone can try it if you have a chance!
👍Most recommended:
Gym: strong privacy, can not disturb each other, the mirror inside is good for taking pictures, everyone can try it, and finally attach me to
🛏Room facilities:
The bed is comfortable and sleeps well, the socket is user-friendly, suitable for all countries, no need for a converter!
👍Most recommended:
This top luxury hotel has a great location, enjoys the convenience of the city center and is free from noise, and is very good at being quiet in the middle of trouble, like it!
Korean Seoul Solo Dining Recommendation - 미도인.
미도인 (味道人) has multiple branches in Korea, and this time I visited the branch in Hongdae✨ The restaurant's decor is mainly wood-based, giving a bit of a retro feel, and the pendant lights inside are very beautiful~🩷
🤍Homemade Sirloin Steak (S-₩16,800)
You can choose the portion size of the meat, and I chose S! (It's already enough for one girl to be full😌) The sirloin steak is tender and juicy, very delicious🤤 There's also a sweet and smooth pumpkin soup~🥣
Additionally, I ordered a cup of 체리뱅쇼 (₩4,500)🍒 The cherry sweetness stands out, and the overall taste is fresh and refreshing, perfect for summer🤩
If you're traveling solo in Seoul, I highly recommend dining at 미도인🥰
📍미도인 Hongdae (味道人) - 1st Floor, 19 Jandari-ro 2-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul
I highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Seoul!!!
🇰🇷I went to Seoul with my boyfriend in May and stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. We stayed at two hotels, the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul and the Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul. The prices are shown in the last picture.
Although the Four Seasons is a well-known brand, I would only recommend the Josun Palace after staying at both. This hotel is really the best in the Gangnam area. It's a typical Korean "chaebol hotel" and is said to be one of the filming locations for the Korean drama "Dark Glory". The hotel facilities are all very new and every corner is very photogenic. Apart from the price, there are no downsides. It's definitely a six-star hotel. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The hotel lobby is located on B1. The doormen are all dressed in the servant uniforms often seen in Korean dramas and they all speak good English. From the moment you enter, you can feel the sense of being a valued guest. Every time you go out, they will proactively ask where you're going and whether you need help hailing a taxi. When the taxi arrives, they will help you open the door and communicate with the driver about your destination. They will then give you a hotel business card and tell you that you can show the address on the card to the driver when you take a taxi back to the hotel.
During check-in, you can sit down and they will proactively offer you a drink🍸. The room is fully equipped with smart facilities, including a Samsung air purifier and a clothing care machine (which can dry, disinfect, and deodorize clothes). There's a wireless charger by the bed and you can contact the hotel through the iPad for room service. 🛀The bathroom is very large and has a double shower head. The toiletries are from Byredo.
Lastly, I want to mention that the hotel's mascot is a very cute little lion🦁 wearing a crown and a cape. You can buy it at the hotel for CNY 400. It's super cute♥

Deoksugung Palace Inside and Out
Every time I visit Seoul City Hall, I make sure to stop by Deoksugung Palace. Touring the palace, including Seokjojeon Hall, is always enjoyable, but it's also a delightful experience to view Deoksugung from the Plaza Hotel right in front of it while having a meal. Whether inside or outside, the palace always offers a stunning view.

Relax in the Heart of the City at Namsangol Hanok Village
The only place in Seoul where you can see the coexistence of urban and natural landscapes is Namsangol Hanok Village.
Five traditional houses from the Joseon Dynasty have been restored and turned into exhibition spaces, preserving their original atmosphere. It's a great travel destination for experiencing traditional folk activities and performances, and it's also recommended for leisurely enjoyment in the pavilions.
Personally, I found the view of Cheonugak Pavilion, the pond, and Namsan Tower together to be quite beautiful. 🖼️

A Day at Leeum: A Journey Through Time and Art
#myhiddengems
#korea
Today, I had the pleasure of visiting Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul. I've heard so much about this museum's stunning architecture and impressive collection, and I wasn't disappointed.
The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the unique blend of tradition and modernity. The museum is divided into two main buildings: Museum 1, designed by Mario Botta, and Museum 2, designed by Jean Nouvel. Each building has its own distinct character, but they both complement each other perfectly.
I started my visit in Museum 1, which houses a collection of traditional Korean art. The intricate ceramics, delicate paintings, and elegant calligraphy were simply breathtaking. I was particularly impressed by the bronze statues, which seemed to come alive with their realistic expressions.
Next, I explored Museum 2, which showcases modern and contemporary art. The exhibits were thought-provoking and often challenging. I especially enjoyed the multimedia installations, which combined technology with art in innovative ways.
One of the highlights of my visit was the museum's beautiful gardens. Taking a stroll through the peaceful surroundings was the perfect way to relax and reflect on the art I had seen.
Overall, my experience at Leeum was fantastic. The museum's collection is truly world-class, and the architecture is a marvel to behold. If you're ever in Seoul, I highly recommend visiting Leeum. It's a must-see for any art lover.
Deoksugung at Sunset
Deoksugung, where King Gojong resided during the Korean Empire period instead of Gyeongbokgung🙂. The Seokjojeon Hall, a modern architectural marvel at that time, creates a unique balance within the serene Hanok structures. Whenever I have a chance to visit near Seoul City Hall, I always include a stroll through Deoksugung in my itinerary. Enjoy a tranquil palace tour😊😊

The Spectacular Parade is a Bonus
One of the moments that children look forward to the most at the amusement park is the parade time. That's why we make sure to catch the main parade, which happens twice a day. Sometimes we watch it while sitting, and other times we enjoy it from the rides, viewing it from above. No matter how you watch it, the colorful performance is always a delight. Be sure to check the parade schedule in advance when visiting Lotte World.

Seoul Dongdaemun Design Plaza: A Cultural Landmark in Seoul
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is an iconic modern building in Seoul, South Korea, designed by Toyo Ito. Known for its streamlined appearance and avant-garde design, this modern structure serves as a hub for Seoul's urban culture and design.
The exterior of DDP features irregular curves and smooth surfaces, utilizing ultra-modern aluminum alloy materials that reflect the changing surroundings. This building is not only a venue for exhibitions and events but also houses a design museum, exhibition halls, and conference rooms, providing flexible spaces for designers and creative professionals. Additionally, it incorporates green design elements, with a rooftop garden and surrounding public spaces offering visitors a place to relax.
History and Culture in Seoul
If the Korean culture and history element fascinates tou. The Bukchon hambok village will be amongst the best sightseeing options for you in Seoul. It can come across as a bit touristy because this is no hidden gem and probably on many people's lists. Especially tour buses and other group arrivals. While that and the signs of reconstruction and newer houses in some places can be a slight spoiler.
But in essence this is what general life and living might have been like back in the days. Its a nice contrast from the mostly urban and metropolitan seeiming seoul. If you are coming in summer, this is going to involve plenty of walking. Meaning put on comfortable shoes and carry water. Should you faint and passout. You might get stepped on by Chinese tourists who are extremely busy clicking pictures and being loud and unaware of others privacy and existence. Bad joke, but be mindful. There are people living in houses. It's a nice half day trip to here.

Old Seoul
This is an interesting half day activity whike you are in Seoul. It is an area with traditional architecture and older streets. There are actually people living in there. So you are basicslly visiting a neighbourhood with traditional houses. It gives you a glimpse into seouls past.
This will work extremely well with people who appreciate cultural sights. Having said so, have realistic expectations. This can also be a crowded place. Starting sooner during the day will help beat the heat too. As it mostly requires walking, you should put on good footwear and keep yourself hydrated. Transport is fairly easy but if it seems complicated, you could consider taking a day tour which would involve the hambok village and several other sights. It takes care of your transport completely.
