Xinchang Ancient Town Food and Shopping

🌈Highlights: I first learned about Xinchang Ancient Town because the Zhaojialou Ancient Town, which was closest to my home, was closed for reconstruction. It took four or five years to wait, and many of the original Zhaojialou shops were moved here. Out of curiosity, I came to see what Xinchang Ancient Town is like. The ancient town is not big, basically it is just a long main street. The core area entering the northern section of the tourist center is quite lively, while the area to the south near Nanshan Ancient Temple is rather deserted and almost unpopular. 📍Self-driving information: There is no subway nearby, so transportation is not that convenient. The parking lot of the self-driving tourist center is large, but I really want to complain about the 10 yuan/hour. The Nanshan Ancient Temple parking lot is also very large. It was said that it was free before, but now it is 7 yuan per hour. There are actually some parking spaces on the roadside in the ancient town, but I don’t know how they are charged. Generally, 2-3 hours is needed to shop and eat. ✨Food recommendations: Compared with the scenery of the ancient town, I personally think the food here is more attractive. It is recommended to eat less at each stall and eat more at several stalls. As for how to choose when there are many stores of the same type, I think you should just go by the popularity and ratings on site. △ Chicken soup tofu pudding. There are many shops along the road. We chose Zhang Ji’s chicken soup tofu pudding. It costs 10 yuan per portion, and it’s a big bowl. The chicken soup is very fresh and there is peach gum. Before eating, the shop owner also reminded us not to break up the tofu pudding, just eat it directly. I feel like I have never seen this before. I recommend you to try it. It’s quite unique. △Caotoubing, Youdunzi (shredded radish cake), Aunt Xu’s Youdunzi Caotoubing is 6 yuan each. This shop moved from Zhaojialou, some distance away from the core area. We happened to pass by it on the way back to the temple parking lot. It is freshly fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and tastes very good with salty and fresh seasoning. △ Xiasha siomai. Now is the best season to eat bamboo shoots. I used to eat it often at Zhaojialou. It tastes good, but there are too many restaurants here, and each one claims to be Zhaojialou's. But it feels like there are more of them than before. △ Xiaolongbao, Le Tianxing Soup Dumpling Restaurant also moved from Zhaojialou. I remember that it had the kind that I like with thin skin and lots of soup. △Others, Laojie Crab Shell Yellow, Aniu Begonia Cake, and Jiang San Stinky Tofu seem to be quite popular, but I don’t have a big appetite and can’t eat everything. △In addition, there will be many vegetable stalls along the way. The local vegetables, water celery, and wild vegetables are not expensive. You can also take pickles, pastries, rice cakes, and soy products home to eat.
