Northeast Changbai Mountain Harbin Shenyang Beijing 2024 Spring Festival Travelogue

1. Organized a 7-person group trip for the Spring Festival, booked flights, hotels, and tickets throughout, friends mostly followed my plan. 2. Personally, the Northeast in February without snow is not as cold as when Guangdong experiences a temperature drop, but the wind is very strong and harsh on the face. 3. There were many people eating and at the scenic spots. We were quite satisfied with following the taxi driver's advice to go to a barbecue restaurant frequented only by locals, away from the concentrated tourist areas. For food, ask taxi drivers more. The boxed meals on Tongda Street in Harbin are good. 4. In Harbin, hailing a taxi is simpler and cheaper than using Didi. Day 1 Guangdong - Shenyang Flew from Macau to Shenyang. Recommended: Shenyang Genqian'er Hotel, from the hotel, walk straight for a couple of hundred meters then turn a corner to reach the Palace Museum. Day 2 Shenyang Shenyang Palace Museum, 50 yuan ticket. Compared to the Beijing Palace Museum I have seen, Shenyang Palace Museum is smaller. In Shenyang, we had a bad experience at a barbecue place with very small skewers, but another iron pot stewed goose restaurant tasted good. Day 3 Changbai Mountain Best to find a hotel that can provide pick-up service. No Didi available, mostly rely on taxis which are hard to get. Took photos near the Snowman Legion at the distribution center, can navigate to Zhihe Hotel. It was New Year's Eve, fireworks were set off at the hotel entrance. Day 4 Changbai Mountain Tianchi During the Spring Festival, only our day had Tianchi open. Took a bus from the distribution center for 1 hour to the transfer center, then switched to a small vehicle to Tianchi. The wind at Tianchi was extremely strong. After viewing Tianchi, we returned to the transfer center, took a bus to the Ice Waterfall. The Ice Waterfall requires walking on a plank road uphill, or you can choose a paid snowmobile. After the Ice Waterfall, walked back down to take a bus to the valley forest for photos, very photogenic. Day 5 Changbai Mountain Skiing, Harbin The hotel owner helped arrange ski suits and tickets. After arriving in Harbin by high-speed train, we strolled along Central Street, which was indeed very popular and crowded. Day 5 Harbin In the morning, some went to play at Songhua River, others went to Harbin Institute of Technology. In the afternoon, gathered at Ice and Snow World. Due to rising temperatures, Ice and Snow World was going to start melting the next day. We were lucky not to queue for the big slide and Ferris wheel. Day 6 Harbin 1. Northeast Tiger Park, just took a sightseeing vehicle around. If you want to feed the tigers, you can choose an adventure vehicle. Overall, I think it’s not as interesting as Guangzhou Chimelong. 2. In the afternoon, checked in at Saint Sophia Cathedral, very crowded. Since a friend brought a drone, some photos were taken from aerial views. Then we walked to Zhonghua Baroque, personally felt it was no different from Central Street. Day 7 Harbin, Beijing 1. Visited the Music Corridor to see the big snowman, checked in at Songhua River Railway Bridge. After arriving at the airport, it started snowing in Harbin. 2. Took a night tour of Shichahai, Tiananmen, and the Forbidden City. At Tiananmen, people were already lining up at midnight to wait for the flag-raising ceremony, which really surprised us. Day 8 Return to Hong Kong This Northeast trip was quite lucky, but don’t have too high expectations because we felt there aren’t many things to do in Harbin; 2-3 days is actually enough. You can stay an extra day at Changbai Mountain.
