Watch the changing of the guard ceremony at Martyrs' Shrine!

If you are coming from Taipei city, I recommend taking a taxi or bus. (It costs NT$180 from the west gate.) The grounds are spacious and there are few tourists, so you can take your time to explore. The Chinese-style buildings are beautifully detailed. It is a shrine that enshrines the spirits of those who died in the war, so it has a very solemn atmosphere. You can also see the changing of the guard at 00 minutes past every hour. There are few visitors, so you can get a close-up look and take videos and photos as you move around.
