Enchanting Trashiyangtse Village in Eastern Bhutan

Time: August 2023 Introduction: Trashiyangtse has a rich culture, filled with sacred sites blessed by Rinpoche masters. You can visit Chorten Kora and Gom Kora as a tourist, or explore Guru Rinpoche's sacred sites like a local Bhutanese. After three visits to the eastern region, this time I experienced the indescribable village life. 🎈Experiences you can have 1. Stroll through the valley in the morning breeze. Feel free to enter a local home, drink butter tea, don't rush, sit down for breakfast, chat, and when leaving, leave some money or buy their vegetables, fruits, or cheese. 2. Visit the local school. Prepare some quiz games with prizes and stationery. The children and teachers will welcome you warmly and ceremoniously. You can also wear local traditional clothing. 3. Join village gatherings. Some villagers may trek 1-2 hours just to come together. There will be singing, dancing, and locally brewed alcohol. If you happen to catch local festivals like the Torch Festival or Tshechu Festival, party all night and forget about sleep! 🎈How to get there 1. Fly from Paro Airport to Yongphula Airport, about 35 minutes. Then drive about 2 hours. 2. Drive from Thimphu for about 14 hours. You can split this into two days, staying in Bumthang in central Bhutan on the first day. Or you can start early and arrive in one day. 🎈Accommodation 1. The comfortable Lingkha Hotel in nearby Tashigang village. The hotel owner is a former Minister of Culture. 2. Stay with local families. Though somewhat inconvenient, the serene beauty is unbeatable. Surprisingly, I had my best sleep during this time.
