Mountain hikes without leaving Tbilisi!

#cityplaybook #georgia #tbilisi Hiking up Mtatsminda Mountain is a great way to enjoy nature right in Tbilisi. The mountain offers many different trails - some go straight up for a quicker workout, while others wind slowly through forests with nice views along the way. I discovered little streams and old stone walls hidden among the trees during my hikes. The best time to visit is spring when the whole mountainside turns green and colorful flowers bloom everywhere. Even in summer, the forest stays relatively cool. I often bring some simple food with me - bread, cheese, fruit - and stop for a picnic at one of the clear spots with city views. It's much nicer than eating in a restaurant. The climb up can be quite a workout, especially if you take the steeper paths, but you can always go at your own pace. At the top, you get amazing views of all Tbilisi spread out below. Some trails pass by interesting sights like the TV tower or funicular station, where you can stop for a break before heading back down. Just remember to wear proper shoes as some parts are rocky, and bring enough water. Whether you want exercise, quiet time in nature, or just a nice place for a picnic, Mtatsminda has great options for everyone. The fresh air and views make it one of my favorite spots in the city.
