Tianjin- an underrated city

Staying in Beijing and have some time up your sleeve? Then we definitely recommend a day or overnight trip Tianjin, a short trip from Beijing (30mins by fast train). Things to do in Tianjin: Wudadao- an old British concession area. Absolutely gorgeous and one of our favourite areas in the city. We recommend starting at Minyuan stadium (great place for lunch, dinner or a drink). From here, start exploring the picturesque streets by foot or bicycle, which are full of Instagram-worthy spots, cute cafes and bars.   Walk along the river - this is especially beautiful at night, the river come to life and you will be in awe of the city lights. 🌆 Osteria- they have the best pizza, I'm talking authentic, mouth watering Italian pizza! Their cocktails are also delicious.🍕🍹 Italian Town- it's touristy and cheesy but worth a look. Venezia is the best Italian restaurant here. Binjiangdao is the main street through the city (also just off the river). Great place to stop after a long river walk. It has a nice Starbucks Reserve which does cocktails as well as coffee. 🍸 Shuishang Gongyuan (water park)- Our favourite park. It has a massive lake in the centre and is a great place to people watch. Aocheng- Not far from the water park. This area is full of restaurants and bars. Good place for a night out. #tianjintravel #beijingdaytrips #beijingtravel #deliciousfood #riverwalk #urbanexplorer #underratedcities

Haihe basin covers an area over 0.267 million square km, cross Hebei Province, Beijing, Tianjin and Shangdong Province, with a total length up to 1, 050 km. Haihe River is regarded as the 'mother river' of Tianjin, for it is a great contributor to the improvement of Tianjin, and ties closely to the lives of Tianjin people living there for generations. Haihe River is a crucial river in North China formed by the convergence of five rivers in Tianjin, the Southern Canal, Ziya River, Daqing River, Yongding River, and the Northern Canal. The southern and northern canals are parts of the Grand Canal. The Northern Canal joins with the Bai He (or Chaobai River) at Tongzhou. The Southern Canal is joined by the Wei River at Linqing. At Tianjin, through the Grand Canal, the Hai connects with the Yellow and Yangtze rivers. #urbanexplorer
