Café Kokun is a mysterious coffee shop in the alley next to Kiyosumi Garden. Not only is its location hidden, but its appearance is so low-key that people hesitate before pushing the door open. You need to change into slippers before entering the store. The store is a small, dark wooden space filled with European-style ornaments and a whole wall of coffee cups. In the quiet atmosphere, it feels like you have entered Ghibli's magical house. You can tell the owner loves cats, as he hangs many paintings of cats. The cats stare at you with lifelike eyes, as if they are about to walk out of the paintings. I ordered iced coffee and fig cheese cake. The cheese was very rich and filling. The space inside the store is very small and there are not many seats. I don’t know if the second floor above the stairs is open, otherwise it must be another magical attic space. Café Kokun is very different from the other hipster coffee shops in Kiyosumi Shirakawa. It has its own unique persistence and style.
