Xinxiang | Weihui, the Dharani Sutra Pillar and Wangjing Tower.

Weihui has a rich collection of cultural relics. I've previously introduced the Bigan Temple. The Dharani Sutra Pillar and Wangjing Tower are also national key cultural relics protection units, so let me briefly introduce them. Dharani Sutra Pillar Originally built in the second year of Kaiyun period of the Later Jin Dynasty (Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period), it was originally housed in the Ningjing Temple. The temple was destroyed by war at the end of the Qing Dynasty, leaving only the sutra pillar. It was later moved to the lobby of the Weihui Hotel for preservation and display. The pillar is 6.5 meters high and is divided into three parts: the base, the body, and the top. The body is engraved with sutra inscriptions in regular script, and the top is carved with coiled dragons, flying apsaras, pavilions, and other motifs, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship. As the only completely preserved sutra pillar from the Later Jin Dynasty, it has extremely high historical value and superb carving techniques, appearing perfectly natural. Integrating history, statues, calligraphy, and religion, it is worth a visit. It is located inside the Weihui Hotel. You can enter directly. Wangjing Tower Originally the "Chongbenshu Building" in the residence of Zhu Youbin, Prince Ru, the younger brother of Emperor Xiaozong of Ming Dynasty, it was extensively expanded by Zhu Yiyu, Prince Lujian, on the site of the former Prince Ru's residence during the Wanli period. Construction of Wangjing Tower began in the 19th year of Wanli, taking its name from the idea of "climbing the tower to look towards the capital, expressing the feeling of missing one's mother." It is the largest existing stone-structured beamless hall in China, with a total height of 33 meters. It is entirely built of brick and stone. The top floor retains the "Chengyi Workshop." It feels quite "solid," but overall, there are not many highlights. Walk around the tower, and not far away, there are two stone inscriptions. Overall, there are not many visual highlights, but there are many stories. Both the Dharani Sutra Pillar and Wangjing Tower are national cultural relics protection units and are not far apart. Weihui has shared electric bikes, making it very convenient to travel between the two sites. The Weihui Museum is also nearby and can be visited together.
