The combination of Baijiashan Scenic Area and Liu Ji (Liu Bowen) Temple forms the Liu Bowen Hometown National 5A Scenic Area, which integrates the majestic waterfall, peculiar peaks, beautiful lake, charming pool, and cultural landscape. When we usually go to Baijiashan, we will ignore this ancient site, but it is one of the few ancestral temples in Zhejiang Province built by imperial decree. It is about 30 minutes' drive from Baijiashan Scenic Area. Baijiashan Waterfall Scenic Area, also known as Baijiashan, is a "V"-shaped deep ravine, where the waters of Nantian, the "Sixth Blessed Land in the World", converge into a waterfall. It plunges from a cliff over 600 meters above sea level, rushing into the deep ravine, forming a three-stage waterfall group with a total drop of 353 meters and a single drop of 207 meters, making it one of the best in China. When you visit, you will see the waterfall water like flying pearls and jade, fluttering silk and condensed rainbow; the sound is like thunder and waves, shaking mountains and earth, magnificent! It is one of the "Top Ten Famous Waterfalls in China"! 🌊🌊🌊 Liu Ji was a founding father who assisted Zhu Yuanzhang in achieving his imperial cause and establishing the Ming Dynasty. He was known as "Imperial Teacher" and "King's Aide". Liu Ji, courtesy name Bowen, was from Nantian, Qingtian, Zhejiang (now a separate county called Wengcheng). He was an outstanding statesman, military strategist, writer, and geomancer in history. In the 20th year of the Zhengzheng period, Zhu Yuanzhang led his army south and invited Liu Ji to join him. At the age of 50, Liu Ji accepted the invitation and returned to the mountains, participating in military affairs, strategizing, and assisting Zhu Yuanzhang in unifying the Ming Dynasty. He was known as a "Three Immortals" figure who "established virtue, established merit, and established words". After his death, he was posthumously granted the title of "Wengcheng", which is the origin of the present-day Wengcheng County. 🧑‍🏫🧑‍🏫🧑‍🏫 The Liu Ji Temple was built in the third year of Tianshun (1459), and is one of the few ancestral temples in Zhejiang Province built by imperial decree. The Liu Ji Temple is magnificent and grand, with a four-entry, seven-bay courtyard-style wooden structure, facing south. It consists of three buildings: the head gate, the ceremonial gate, and the main hall. Two wooden archways, "Imperial Teacher" and "King's Aide", were added on both sides of the head gate of the ancestral hall. The surrounding walls are made of stone blocks. The architectural design and construction integrate the best of Ming and Qing architecture and art, and are well preserved.
