Hangzhou Botanical Garden is located to the northwest of West Lake, and can be divided into different functional areas: ornamental plant area (specialized gardens), plant classification area, economic plant area, and forest park Day1 • Winter Sweet Garden: Located on the southwest side of Lingfeng Scenic Area, covering more than 20 acres, it is planted with over 2,200 clusters of winter sweet, summer winter sweet, and shiny-leaf winter sweet, among which there are more than 2,000 clusters of winter sweet, with over 30 varieties. • Lingfeng Plum Exploration: One of the three famous plum viewing spots in West Lake, Hangzhou. After the temple was built, plum trees were planted. In the main scenic area of Lingfeng Plum Garden, there are still 6 clusters of ancient winter sweet over a hundred years old, which are relics of the former temple. The rebuilt Lingfeng Scenic Area covers 150 acres, with more than 5,000 newly planted plum trees, including both fruit and flower plums. • Yuchuan Fish Leaping: Located on the north side of the botanical garden, covering 21 acres, it is one of Hangzhou's three famous springs along with Hupao Spring and Longjing Spring. In the Yuchuan Fish Leaping scenic area, there is a lawn with a pond in the middle, and a small island in the center of the pond, surrounded by pavilions and towers. • Hundred Herbs Garden: Located on the east side of the botanical garden's office building, the garden gathers more than 1,000 kinds of medicinal plants, including the famous Chinese medicine 'Zhe Eight Flavors'. It is a base for popular science and teaching practice of medicinal plants, receiving a large number of students for visits and learning each year. • Featured Plants: • Magnolia: Has a long cultivation history in China, generally referring to plants of the Magnolia genus in the Magnoliaceae family. The flowers of the Spring-watching Magnolia are slightly smaller and bloom early, being the earliest blooming variety in the Hangzhou area. Its bark is light gray and smooth. The twigs are slender and gray-green. The leaves are narrow and elongated ovals. The base of the outside is usually light purple-red. The flower shape is more horizontally open when in full bloom, with a diameter of about 8 to 10 centimeters. • Tianmu Magnolia: Has a very narrow distribution area and is listed in the Zhejiang Province Key Protected Wild Plant Directory. In 2014, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species listed it as Vulnerable (VU). • Recommended Photography Spots: • Han Meilin Art Museum: The total building area is 4,207 square meters, of which the main building area is 3,677 square meters. It was completed on September 30, 2005, and officially opened on October 19 of the same year. It is an art space related to the famous artist Mr. Han Meilin, integrating collection, exhibition, research, public education, and international exchange. • Buddha Head: At the entrance of the art museum, there is a super large Buddha head, kind and benevolent, hidden in the bamboo forest, very solemn and artistic, suitable for taking photos with the theme of 'facing the Buddha'. • Mother and Child Series: A favorite creative theme of Han Meilin, featuring a graceful young woman and a cute little child, forming a variety of shapes that are endearing and distinctly characteristic of Han Meilin. Day2 Yuewang Temple is located at the northwest corner of West Lake, opposite to Quyuan Fenghe, and is a place to commemorate the national hero Yue Fei • Route: Main Gate - Zhonglie Shrine - Lie Wenhou Shrine - Fu Wenhou Shrine - Yue Fei Memorial Hall - East Porch - West Porch - Zhengqi Pavilion - Tomb Garden - Iron Statues of Kneeling Figures (Four People) - West Gate. • Scenic Spot Introduction: • Heart Shines to the Sky: Comes from Yue Fei's final words 'The sky and sun shine brightly', inscribed by Marshal Ye Jianying in 1979. • Spirit as Majestic as Mountains and Rivers: Inscribed by the famous Song dynasty historian and author of Yue Fei's biography, Mr. Deng Guangming. • Return My Rivers and Mountains: Above the head of the statue of King Yue hangs 'Return My Rivers and Mountains', which is composed of characters from Yue Fei's calligraphy works. • Couplet in front of the tomb: 'The green mountains are fortunate to bury loyal bones' refers to Yue Fei, 'The white iron innocently casts treacherous officials' refers to the four kneeling sinners in front of the tomb. • Stele Corridor: The stele corridors on both sides of the tomb garden are also a gathering of famous works, worth exploring in detail.
