Blooming Flowers | Weekend Trip to Wuxi: A 2-Day Hardcore Itinerary Taking the high-speed train from Wuhan to Wuxi takes only 4 hours, a totally acceptable travel time. Arriving Friday night and returning Sunday night allowed for two full days of fun. It was a sunny, fulfilling, and beautiful trip! Transportation Wuxi Railway Station is located in the city center, close to various attractions. Booking a hotel near the station is recommended. Local Transportation Wuxi is not a very large city. Most popular scenic spots are accessible by subway. Taxi rides within the city are generally under 10 km, making it quite convenient. However, expect traffic congestion during peak hours. Itinerary Day 1: Flower Viewing Tour Purchasing the Wuxi Garden Pass is recommended. At ¥200 per person, it grants access to most major attractions. Initially, I didn't buy it, thinking I'd only be there for two days, but later realized it's more cost-effective. Li Garden Tickets: ¥45 Transportation: Take the subway to Xiajiabian or Lihu Bridge. The walk to the entrance is a little over a kilometer. Driving or taking a taxi is not recommended due to heavy traffic congestion at the entrance. The peach blossoms in Li Garden were in full bloom this weekend, creating a dense and stunning display. The pear blossoms by the lake were also fresh and elegant. Tai Hu Yuantouzhu Scenic Spot Tickets: ¥90 Transportation: A shuttle bus is available from Xiajiabian subway station for ¥5 per person. However, the road there was extremely congested (possibly due to the Wuxi Marathon and the influx of tourists). We stood on the bus for 50 minutes for a short trip. Walking or cycling from Li Garden is recommended. Alternatively, take a boat from Li Garden's pier for ¥50 per trip. The downside is that boats depart hourly on the hour, and long queues can lead to extended waiting times. The early cherry blossoms had just withered, and the next wave hadn't bloomed yet. They will likely be spectacular next weekend. The park is quite large, offering several hours of exploration and a variety of other flowers. Day 2: Cultural Tour Huishan Ancient Town Tickets: Free This town is quite commercialized, with many local delicacies. With proper planning, you can find some delicious specialties. It's also very crowded. Jichang Garden Tickets: ¥70 Located next to the ancient town, this garden is worth a visit. It features antique buildings, and the adjacent Huishan Temple is a popular place of worship. There are also several smaller historical sites nearby. Xihui Park Tickets: ¥10 Accessible through a side gate of Jichang Garden. Remember to book in advance for the Azalea Garden, as the azaleas are not yet in bloom. Nanchan Temple Tickets: Free Due to time constraints, we didn't visit, but there are many great restaurants nearby, such as Cai A Po and Xishengyuan. Further afield, you'll find Caozhang Street and Maohua Snacks. Nanchang Street Featured in the Spring Festival Gala, this street is primarily a commercial area with standardized businesses. However, venturing deeper into the less crowded alleys offers good photo opportunities. The bridge provides a view similar to the one featured in the Spring Festival Gala broadcast. Food My friend took me to two of her favorite restaurants: Tianfuyuan and Qiangshu Zhuzazhou. Both were delicious! The former offers authentic Wuxi cuisine that caters to a wide range of palates, making it a safe bet. Traditional Clothing Jiangnan cities are perfect for taking photos in Hanfu. Many people rent outfits and take photos in the gardens. It's a beautiful and elegant sight.
