Lizhuang | Xizi Alley

| Xizi Alley. Lizhuang Ancient Town has 18 crisscrossing streets and alleys, all paved with rectangular or square stone slabs. Among these streets and alleys, the most well-preserved and representative is Xizi Alley. Built during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, it got its name from the processing and sale of straw mats. The wooden buildings, each with a shop on the ground floor and a residence above, were once used for mat production, with the shop in front and the workshop in the back. The alley still retains its ancient appearance.
