Explore Wenfo Mountain in Yichang: A blend of ancient temples and natural scenery

Basic information Location: Located at the junction of Nanmu Creek Village and Dabai Village, Lianpeng Township, Dianjun District, Yichang, bordering Yichang, Yidu, and Changyang. It is said that "one foot steps into three counties." Name: Named after Wenfo Temple built on the mountain. Also known as Kengfushan and Jizhaoshan due to its shape resembling an upside-down basket and a chicken coop. Area and altitude: The scenic area covers an area of 30 square kilometers. The main peak is more than 710 meters above sea level, and the average altitude is 670 meters. Historical evolution Wenfo Ancient Temple was first built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. During the Kangxi period, the court allocated funds for expansion, and the Viharah and Patriarch's Hall were completed after eight years. In 1942, most of the buildings were destroyed by Japanese artillery fire. In 1966, the temple was destroyed again and became a ruin. In 1989, the state issued a religious policy, and Wenfo Temple was rebuilt. In 1995, Dianjun District developed the temple for tourism. In 2000, Yichang Municipal Government approved Wenfo Ancient Temple as a religious activity site. Main attractions Wenfo Temple: Wenfo Mountain Ancient Temple is the representative attraction of the scenic area. It originated in the Tang Dynasty, was built in the Ming Dynasty, and flourished in the Qing Dynasty. It has a history of more than 600 years. The temple has many buildings, a large scale, and a strong incense. Ancient archway: Facing south, with four pillars, and a multi-level complex of Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, it is known as the "No. 1 archway in the Three Gorges." The inner courtyard building is based on a nine-bay structure, which is simple and elegant. Tea ceremony hall: Centered on the "Jianzhen Wenfo Tea House," there are six branch halls, each with a different architectural style. The Wenfo tea produced in the tea garden is of excellent quality and is an irreplaceable treasure. Stele Forest Hill: Located next to the Tea Ceremony Hall, the stele carving culture has a history of more than 1,700 years. It will collect the essence of various art works and form a vast sea of stele art. Ethnic village: It is a well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty ethnic village, extending from Chenjiachang to Wangjiachang, where villagers of seven ethnic groups, including Han, Tujia, and Miao, live together, and the customs and habits are unique.
