[Kanagawa Prefecture/Uraga Ferry] A charming ferryboat

The Uraga Ferry is a very convenient way to travel between east and west Uraga. I mainly use it when going between Nishikano Shrine and Higashikano Shrine! The sea at Uraga is crystal clear and truly beautiful. The surface of the water sparkles especially on fine days. The ride goes by in a flash, but it gives you a little taste of what it's like to be on a journey. Right next to the Higashifunato Pier is a stone monument marking the site of Tokudaya. Yoshida Shoin stayed at Tokudaya, which was once an inn, when Perry arrived. It is said that he met Sakuma Shozo here. It is also said that Ando Hiroshige and Kido Takayoshi stayed here.
