No exaggeration—Hou Wu Village, Yongkang

Hou Wu Village was built in the Jiading period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1222) and has a history of more than 800 years. The village has the most complete ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties in Yongkang, including nearly 100 halls, buildings, and courtyards, with a total of more than 1,000 rooms. These buildings are not only large in scale, but also exquisitely carved, showing the superb skills and profound cultural connotations of ancient craftsmen. The village has also produced many historical celebrities, such as the "Three Prime Ministers of the Wu Family"—Wu Fu, a scholar of the Longtu Pavilion, Wu Jian, the left prime minister, and Wu Shilai, the grand chancellor. These figures add a strong cultural atmosphere to Hou Wu Village. The Wu Family Ancestral Hall is large in scale and well maintained. The villagers are very friendly and enthusiastic, and most of the people currently living in the village are elderly.
