Old Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
After flying ten thousand kilometers, I finally met with karaka in Croatia
KARAKA is a
retro merchant ship built in imitation of the 16th-century ship design
Sailing from Dubrovnik to the Elaphiti Islands
Rippling in the azure waters
Rolling hills
Pastoral fields of fertile plains
As we approach the dock
It echoes with the ancient city of Dubrovnik
Everything is so beautiful it doesn't seem real
The nearly one-hour Karaka Boat Tour
Is a brand new way to explore Croatia on my second visit
This century-old retro vessel on the sea
Is an echo from the Adriatic Sea dating back to the 7th century
The sea and sky merge into one, with the mysterious ocean swaying a dreamy landscape
Europe's No1 most beautiful beach, it is the sanctuary in my dreams.
Brela beach is the most comfortable beach I have seen over the years, truly second to none.
Sitting on the beach chair watching the sunset, I probably will never forget it in my lifetime.
Indescribably wonderful.
Croatia is really a place I can't stop thinking about.
I always say that I must take this opportunity to live here for a while in the future.
A completely tourist-free, quiet place.
Forbes magazine once rated Brela beach as the No6 beach in the world and the No1 beach in Europe, it is really very beautiful.
Brela beach stretches for 6 kilometers, with very little surf, and is a beautiful sea in Croatia and even Europe. Each bay is like a paradise, and century-old pine trees are distributed along the coastline and the edge of the beach, presenting different visual aesthetics and art, and I am still amazed when I think about it now!
{Geographical Location Overview}
In the Central Dalmatia region of Croatia, Route 8 is the essence of the Croatian coast, with charming white beaches, various hidden small bays with red-tiled fishing villages, and steep cliff sections along the way. Reaching the high ground, you can overlook the islands scattered in the Adriatic Sea, a world-famous coastal road. Among them, the super beautiful beach is the Brela area at the foot of the mountain, with clear and distinct water quality. The special feature is the rows of strong pines on the winding bayside, growing towards the sea with a powerful posture, layers of green shade, red-tiled villas built along the slope, and steep mountains in the distance, simply a heavenly landscape.
Transportation
Bus: Take a bus from Split, along Route 8 for 1 hour, and you can reach the Brela coast, tell the driver the destination in advance
Self-driving: Just navigate, be sure to choose a hotel or B&B that can park, as the beaches are steep and not easy to park
Accommodation 1 Paulina
It is a villa hotel apartment, the pool faces the sea which is super beautiful, and it is very convenient to go down to the beach 2 Bluesun hotel Berulia
A larger hotel, also by the beach, parking is also very good, there are more trees in front of the hotel blocking the sea, but the hotel is still very good

Croatia is a country located at the intersection of Central Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Balkans. It looks like a crescent moon on the map. Croatia has a long coastline, the longest among the Balkan countries, with beautiful scenery along the way; it has over 1185 islands, earning it the nickname 'Country of a Thousand Islands'. The most famous is Plitvice Lakes, where 16 natural lakes are connected, with a large amount of calcium carbonate limestone deposits in the lakes, presenting green, gray, blue, etc., forming an ultimate natural landscape.
☘️
Speaking of Croatia, one must first mention Dubrovnik, also known as 'King's Landing' in the famous 'Game of Thrones'. Even if you're not a fan of the show, it's more customary to call it King's Landing, as it seems to show the grandeur of this ancient city.

[Traveling around Eastern Europe] Dubrovnik
two-kilometer wall for three hours, I am right in the wall control.
It feels more common to walk in the city, but finding a commanding height, such as a wall, a seaside fortress or a mountaintop, is completely another scene. The beauty of Junlin City needs to be seen from a height.

Probably the best place to observe the vastness of Dubrovnik's architectural treasures, it's a relaxed hike to the peak of its summit, or a short glide on the cable car, where the shifting landscape becomes more spectacular as you ascend, with abundant views of the Old Town, Lokrum and the Elafiti islands.

Divine Dubrovnik musical treat
We attended the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra concert in the Rector's Palace. The acoustics were astounding! We weren't sure at all about the open roof, but somehow there was no leakage and the sound was divine - so full and rich and warm. It's as though every single stone in the building was resonating with the music.
You can check the calendar and buy tickets online at
the orchestra's website or in-person in the tourist centre next to the Rector's Palace (below the Bell Tower). If you have a valid tourist pass, you could also buy tickets at the door 1 hour before the concert and get 10% off!
