Gödöllő is only about 30 kilometers from Budapest, making it a relatively short drive. This city is famous for Empress Elisabeth's palace, which has also made it a popular tourist destination. Most people come here to visit Empress Elisabeth's palace, but in fact, besides the palace, the town itself is also very charming and well worth exploring. The town center revolves around the church and the surrounding square, where most of the locals' leisure activities take place. Since it was the weekend, many families were relaxing with their children in the central square, and I felt that this place was full of life.

At the recommendation of the staff, I tried the local specialty, cherry chocolate cake, paired with a simple cup of coffee. While not elaborate, it was enough to keep you occupied for a long time, allowing you to chat with locals and experience their daily lives. Indeed, it's a truly enchanting place.

The palace is a gem of Hungarian Baroque architecture with magnificent gardens surrounding it. As I wandered through the luxurious rooms, it was as if I traveled back in time to Habsburg’s reign of royalty. I was awed by the grandeur and intricacy of detail in each chamber. 🤩👑 One cannot overlook the ceremonial hall and Empress Elizabeth Apartment, wonderfully restored to reveal its original glory. The audio guide shared interesting stories, adding depth to the experience with historical anecdotes. 🎙️🏛️ The palace gardens, a peaceful oasis of nature was ideal for peaceful roam around. The peaceful atmosphere was created by the symmetrical layout, statues and vibrant flowers. It was an idyllic place to relax after exploring the palace halls rich with history. 🌳🌺 I continued the royal adventure by visiting Gödöllő Arboretum nearby. The abundance of lush greenery and highly diverse plant life provided a peaceful refuge, which complemented the splendour of palace visit impeccably. 🌿🦋 A few steps away from the palace, there was a quaint town center. The streets were lined with normal cafés and local shops, where one could taste the real Hungarian life. The local food, and especially this hearty goulash was a culinary delight. 🍲🇭🇺 It was convenient and immersively engaging to explore the royal past of Hungary due to their vicinity. 🏰🗺️ A Royal Palace of Gödöllő is more than a place, it’s travel through Hungary’s royal heritage.
