Keiunkan: Guinness World Record! The world's oldest hot spring inn
Since its opening in 705, Keiunkan has never run dry, and was recognized by Guinness in 2011 as the world's oldest hot spring inn.
We stayed here in December. This year, the autumn leaves were still in full bloom.
We arrived at Keiunkan in just over an hour on the free shuttle bus from Minobu Station.
We had booked a room with an open-air bath called Kitadake.
The room and the building were clean and comfortable.
The staff were very welcoming and not overly formal, which was nice.
I forgot to take pictures of dinner, but the specialty yuba and Koshu beef lava-grilled melted in my mouth.
The apple Shirawa appetizer was delicious. My husband seemed to like the acorn noodles.
We were given private rooms for both dinner and breakfast, so my husband and I were able to spend a relaxing and quiet time together.
The great thing about the open-air bath in the room is that you can take a bath whenever you want! I was really grateful for this as I have bad hip joints.
There was also drinkable hot spring water in the room.
After drinking it, I felt my intestines moving.
Even the water in the bathroom was hot spring water ♨️
It was such a luxury.
This was an inn where I could cleanse the inside and outside of my body, and my mind.
Thank you ♪

"Xishan Hot Spring Qingyun Pavilion" - Guinness World Records 1,000-year-old hot spring hotel
Guinness World Records
During the cherry blossom season, I took a two-and-a-half-hour Shinkansen + train, plus a one-hour bus ride, and finally arrived at the "Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan" which has been standing in Yamanashi Prefecture since 1,300 years ago.
Historical celebrities who have been welcomed here include Takeda Shingen's famous general Anayama Baiyu; it is also said that Tokugawa Ieyasu also came to bathe here twice.
There are six hot springs in Qingyun Hall, two of which are "loan-cut hot springs" and they are free! This is great news for those who like hot springs!
Since it is a "source spring flow", it is super hot and super cool!
The hotel was almost full on the day we checked in, but we didn't encounter many other guests while soaking in the hot spring.
In addition to the hot springs, the owner's thoughtfulness can be seen in many details, such as the dinner dishes and even the utensils used to serve the food.
Qingyun Pavilion is a place worth visiting once in a lifetime.
It is so interesting to think that so many famous people in history came to the same place and did the same thing as you.
