From the top of the mountain, you can walk to the Hoonah Stone (Aboriginal stone carving attraction) and the forest trail, and enjoy the ancient trees, ferns, and Aboriginal cultural displays along the way. It is very suitable for taking pictures and light hiking.
🏭 Salmon Canning Factory Museum
Originally a salmon canning factory in operation in 1912, it is now a free museum that displays the history of the canning line and fishing industry in the past. You can also walk on the wooden trestle to experience the spirit of the craftsmen of the past.
🍩 Local donuts & community charity
The Salvation Army donut stand in the park operates on a shoestring budget, and every donut sold is donated to local residents. While tasting handmade donuts, you can also feel the warmth of the community.
🌲 Aboriginal cultural experience + ecological exploration
You can see Aboriginal totems, and you may also encounter traditional song and dance performances or Totem art stalls led by high school students.
The nearby trails meander into the depths of the rainforest, and you have the opportunity to see sea lions, seagulls, and even brown bears patrolling the shore.
🎣 Salmon canning workshop
There is a cultural and creative store on one side of the canning factory, selling replica local canned salmon, Tlingit totem souvenirs, handmade beer, etc., which can be taken home as Alaska souvenirs with a story.
