A Day in Quanzhou: Don't Miss This Forgotten Treasure Traditional Village
Previously, during a half-day layover in Quanzhou, I discovered a serene corner hidden away from the modern hustle and bustle, about 20 minutes' drive (10 kilometers) from the airport—Wulin Traditional Village. Unlike the bustling West Street adorned with flowers, it quietly stands there, with its distinctive red brick and white stone buildings that blend Minnan and Nanyang styles, telling the story of overseas Chinese's love for their homeland.
·
🌲Before entering the village, you can see towering phoenix trees from afar, with their fiery red flowers in full bloom, seemingly welcoming visitors from afar and calling out to wanderers.
🏠Upon entering the village, you will see rows of red brick and white stone buildings, with various deities and mythical creatures on the swallowtail ridges, each with its own unique features.
🏰As you go further in, you will see Western-style buildings such as the Chaodong Building, the Spanish-style Qiaopi Museum built with red bricks, and the Roman-style Western-style building "Gun Tower". They all bear witness to the overseas Chinese who ventured out to explore the new world but never forgot their homeland and gave back to their hometown.
🌟Recommended spots to check out:
✅Chaodong Building
✅Qiaopi Museum
✅Gun Tower
✅Five-story House
✅Juruo Ancient House Bookstore.
Ladies can also change into Peranakan costumes here to experience the Nanyang style. What impressed me the most was a coffee shop here where the latte art was actually the God of Wealth, truly reflecting the Fujian people's love and longing for wealth
.

Before leaving Quanzhou, be sure to leave a day for this 600-year-old village
Don't just know to go to West Street and Zanhua when you go to Quanzhou~😆 If you want to avoid the crowd and feel the Minnan ancient house style, 🛖 you must go to this Nanyang ancient village in Quanzhou that has a history of 600 years‼️
📍Jinjiang Wulin Traditional Village
🎫No tickets required
🚗I took a taxi from the airport after getting off the plane, it only takes 15 minutes, and it takes about 50 minutes from Quanzhou city
The buildings here are very distinctive, 📷 there are many photo spots, and you can also experience the Nyonya costume, which can better integrate into the scene.
📷Share my machine position, but there are more beautiful places that you can discover while walking around✅
👉Chaodong Building, Five-story House, Pit Wall Building, Stage, Bridge Batch Hall, Gun Building, etc.
I personally suggest that you can rush here the day you get off the ✈️ plane or the day you are going to fly away, leaving 2-3h is enough, because it is very close to the airport and will not detour.
Quanzhou! Compared to West Street! I prefer this century-old village!
Compared to the crowded West Street,
I prefer this century-old village in Quanzhou.
With a history of over 600 years,
It combines Chinese, Western and Minnan architectural styles,
It's really photogenic here!

The Wulin traditional village was built by overseas Chinese who returned home years ago, so it has both Western style and Minnan characteristics.
.
Travel Tips:
✔️The Chaodong Tower at the entrance is the most photogenic one, with a strong Western Roman style, both the front and the inside are very photogenic.
.
✔️The wall and tree at the entrance of the visitor center, when the sun is out, the light and shadow are super beautiful!
.
✔️The old houses and alleys, red walls and tiles, any corner is very photogenic!
.
It is recommended to reserve half a day for a visit here, you can change into a Nyonya costume~ I just happened to have a hairpin flower that day, so I didn't change.

Wudianshi Traditional Blocks (五店市傳統街區)
Wudianshi Traditional Blocks, is a park in Jinjiang City, Quanzhou, China. It is located in Qingyan, the old town of Jinjiang City, and was considered as the birthplace of the city.
Wudianshi Traditional Block is full of cultural relics and historical buildings, such as ancestral shrines, temples, private houses and stores.
From TPE Taoyuan International Airport, Shenzhen Airlines has a daily frequency direct flight to Jinjiang City. The flying time is about an hour.
I stayed at the Hollyston Hotel, just less than 2 kilometers from the airport. Wudianshi Traditional Blocks is a walking distance from the hotel. Along your way to the park, there are plenty of mango trees.

“A time-honored restaurant in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, with a surprise for your taste buds!”
Hey, travel experts! Today, I want to share a hidden gem in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, a time-honored restaurant called Chunsheng Restaurant. It's a place you won't forget once you try it!
When you arrive at the entrance, it may look like an ordinary street-side restaurant, but once you take a look inside and see the crowd of diners, mostly locals, you'll know there's something special inside!
Once inside, you'll find the environment is quite nice. If you're with a large group or want some peace and quiet, there are private rooms upstairs. Now, let's talk about the food.
First up is the steamed razor clams! They have old razor clams on the menu, and the price is more than half cheaper than others. Don't be put off by the word "old" - you'd be wrong! Each razor clam is plump and tender, and when you take a bite, the fresh and tender taste spreads across your tongue, as if the deliciousness of the sea is in your mouth, leaving you wanting more.
Next is the ginger duck, which looks plump, but it's not quite what you might expect. Some of my friends loved it, but others found it wasn't to their taste. That's the magic of food - it's hard to please everyone, but that's what makes it worth trying for yourself to see if it suits your taste buds.
The sweet and sour ribs are a perfect example of color, aroma, and taste! When they're served, the tempting color makes your mouth water, and the portion is large enough to satisfy everyone.
The fried noodles are not to be missed. It's a huge portion. When I went with six friends, we each had two bowls, and there was still some left. I had three bowls myself, and the taste was so good I couldn't stop eating.
Finally, the five-spice rolls are a must-try. Who can resist the fragrant fried food? When you take a bite, the crispy outside and tender inside fill your mouth with flavor. It's amazing!
In short, Chunsheng Restaurant is like a treasure chest full of food stories. Each dish has its own unique flavor, and it exudes its own charm in the charming city of Jinjiang. If you're visiting Jinjiang, Quanzhou, don't miss this time-honored restaurant and experience a feast for your taste buds!

Exploring the Ancient City of Quanzhou: Jinjiang Wulin Ancient Village and Sunshine Night Market
In the thousand-year-old city of Quanzhou, every brick and tile carries a heavy history. Today, I embarked on a journey to explore the Wulin Ancient Village in Jinjiang and the bustling Sunshine Night Market, hoping to find unique stories in the intertwining of tradition and modernity.
A vibrant day begins at Wulin Ancient Village. Here, the simple red brick houses and Western-style buildings complement each other, as if telling stories of the overseas Chinese hometown. Walking on this land full of stories, I felt as if I had traveled through time and space, feeling the hardships and hopes of the overseas Chinese who went to other countries to make a living. Each house not only represents the rise and fall of a family but is also a microcosm of the changes in the entire village and even the Minnan region.
As night fell, I came to the famous Sunshine Night Market. It is not only a paradise for taste buds but also a melting pot of culture. In the bustling crowd, various authentic snacks satisfied my taste buds, and the handicrafts dazzled me. Each stall has its own story, and each vendor welcomes guests from all over the world with enthusiasm and smiles.
From the tranquility of the day to the hustle and bustle of the night, Quanzhou showcases the depth of history and the vitality of reality in its unique way. Wulin Ancient Village and Sunshine Night Market, one is a deep look back at the past years, and the other is a passionate ode to modern life. This trip not only allowed me to appreciate the beauty of Quanzhou but also deeply experience the unique cultural charm of this city.
Although this day's journey is over, the story of Quanzhou is never-ending. It is like a heavy history book and an endless poem. No matter where you go, there are always new discoveries and insights. I believe that one day in the future, I will set foot on this land again and continue to explore those unknown stories.
P-HOUSE Tianyang Xiangju is a poetic countryside in the city center of Quanzhou.
Live in the countryside, smell the fragrance of rice, and taste the aroma of tea. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city but don't have time to travel far, P-HOUSE Tianyang Xiangju in Jinjiang is the perfect place to relax. Located in the city center, P-HOUSE Tianyang Xiangju is a poetic countryside where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find peace.
P-HOUSE Tianyang Xiangju is located in the vast countryside of Tianyang Jiujia. The main street is renovated from traditional Minnan houses, combining modern and traditional styles to create a unique fashion trend. The rooms are equipped with King Koil mattresses, a rich minibar, a custom TV that can rotate and cast, a Bluetooth speaker, tea sets, and more. The room design is inspired by Song Dynasty paintings, with a simple Minnan style that is both relaxing and refreshing. I especially love the terrace on the third floor, where I can sit in the warm light and enjoy a beer at sunset.
The name "P-HOUSE" stands for "PLAY," representing "interesting souls," and "HOUSE," meaning a gathering place and residence. It encourages "interesting souls" to gather here and experience the local countryside. This "rustic yet tasteful" lifestyle is truly appealing. Tea is a traditional Minnan way of hospitality, and at P-HOUSE, this custom is presented in the form of "makase." Guests sit around the table, and the host brews tea, creating a unique and interesting experience. The interplay of light and shadow is like a vivid work of art.
Tianyang Village is famous for its water chestnuts, and the "Water Chestnut Experiment School" next to P-HOUSE offers creative drinks and cultural products made from water chestnuts. The Design House showcases the history and concept of the Tianyang Jiujia project. The farm restaurant opposite P-HOUSE is a pleasant surprise, offering dishes full of local flavor and warmth. Many ingredients are homegrown, making the food healthy and delicious.
In your spare time, you can visit the beautiful natural scenery of Jiushijiu Creek or explore the authentic style of Tianyang Ancient Village. This is a place where you can find peace in the city center, and I often want to come and stay for a few days.
A must-stay in Quanzhou, the Quanzhou C&D Hotel offers views of the Jin River.
In autumn, the Jin River flows like a poem. I watch the cars come and go on Chengzhou Bridge from the window of the Quanzhou C&D Hotel. The clouds have been there for thousands of years, and the world has changed, but there will always be someone coming to you. This romance and expectation is written for you by the Jin River and Hilton.
The Quanzhou C&D Hotel is the 100th hotel opened by Hilton Hotels Group in Greater China, and it opened in 2017. The hotel not only has the sense of ceremony of 100, but also has a very ingenious design, inspired by the elements of the "Ancient Maritime Silk Road" and cleverly integrated with the local culture of southern Fujian, interpreting the cultural characteristics of Quanzhou, "half city of fireworks, half city of immortals, half ancient, half foreign." The shape of the ceiling in the hotel lobby is like undulating waves, or like sails fluttering in the wind, creating the magnificent atmosphere of the merchants of Citing City setting sail. The sunken design at the entrance of the hotel is also quite ingenious, like a group of dragons playing with pearls, with wealth rolling in.
The rooms also continue the elements of the Maritime Silk Road in their design, with an overall elegant and stylish look, and the murals at the head of the bed and the blue carpet give a sense of calm and tranquility. When the lights come on, turn off the lights, soak in the bathtub and enjoy the colorful night view outside the window, as if you are wandering in the boundless universe. Or you can walk to the lobby bar, where the bookshelf on the wall has a sense of high mountains, and I think of the poem "The startled geese do not form words, the fallen leaves know autumn best," and I feel the wind gently blowing through my heart.
The most important thing to do in Quanzhou is to taste the food here. Although I have been to Quanzhou many times, I was still amazed by the food at the Hometown Chinese Restaurant this time. Quanzhou is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, and the Chinese restaurant is named "Hometown," meaning the feeling of home, full of emotional value. The Hometown Restaurant inherits the ancient cooking tradition, and the traditional southern Fujian cuisine such as ginger duck, earth bamboo shoot jelly, fried five-spice, and fried vinegar meat, as well as other dishes, are all unforgettable.
In "Hometown," I tasted "Hometown," and in the Quanzhou C&D Hotel, the Jin River quietly flowed in front of the window, telling a thousand-year-old legend and giving me this romance.

Light and shadow become poetry in Xie Ke's new work in Quanzhou.
Quanzhou is my first choice for off-peak travel in October! With its pleasant temperature and secluded beaches... If you're tired of the green mountains and rivers of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, it's time to head south.
This time, I arranged a four-day, three-night solo trip to Quanzhou. Just go! But I didn't take the usual route, my first stop was from the beach.
📍Qi Xu Reef Stone
I underestimated my expectations for the hotel built on the reef. Qi Xu Reef Stone, which opened in May this year, is a new work by Master Xie Ke~ It's so beautiful that it's overwhelming😍
Far away from the bustling city, it has a strong holiday feel, like going to the summer in Sicily, bright and shining!
The guest rooms face the invincible sea view, and you can watch the sunrise without leaving the house. In the minimalist design, the sense of time of light and shadow is integrated, and every detail is carefully polished. Natural elements are also flexibly used, even in the guest rooms, you can deeply feel the healing of the natural system.
The benefits of getting up early are... you can enjoy a whole sea area~ 7-9 am is also the best shooting time, the sun shines into every part of the hall from the floor-to-ceiling windows, where the light reaches, everything has a story.
I look forward to time, just stop here.
