I went to the Yakurai Souvenir Center in Kami-machi. It seems that the gelato here is famous, but it is only open until 3pm. The restaurant is also open until 3pm. The bamboo shoots at the souvenir center were popular in May. They also have shiso rolls, local beer (Yakurai beer), plants, and local character goods. Yakurai Yakushi no Yu, which came in first in the general hot spring election, has cottages, a pool, and a beer garden on the premises, so it is one of the places you can enjoy for an entire day.

Located in Kami Town, Miyagi Prefecture, Yakurai Garden is a flower garden filled with picturesque spots 🪻. The flowers change with the seasons, and during winter, you can enjoy nighttime illuminations. I visited during Golden Week, and the garden was stunning with pansies, tulips, and rapeseed flowers in full bloom. Unfortunately, the nemophila flowers hadn't bloomed yet 💦. The garden opens at 10 AM, but there was already a line forming about 15 minutes before opening. Purchasing tickets at the vending machine took some time, so I had to wait a bit. If you buy tickets online, you can skip the ticket line, which might be more convenient. Admission is ¥800. The garden isn't overly large, so you likely won't get too tired walking around. Depending on your pace, two hours should be enough to leisurely explore the area. The soft serve ice cream sold at the entrance was incredibly delicious. I visited Yakurai Garden during Golden Week. The parking lot is quite large, and there are many staff members, so it seems well-maintained. The garden inside is one of the largest in Tohoku, as you would expect! Beautiful flower fields spread throughout the garden. The rape blossoms look like a carpet. The tulips are also colorful and beautiful. There were quite a lot of people there during the holidays, but the garden is so large that it didn't bother me. Every corner is elaborately decorated, so it's fun no matter how many times you go. There is also a shop, restaurant, and soft-serve ice cream counter on the premises, so it's a great place to relax. Umbrellas are available for rental, so you don't have to worry about rainy days. I'd like to visit again in different seasons.
