If you're in good physical condition and able to hike, I highly recommend hiking around the lake. It's largely a peaceful hike where I could see the scenery I wanted, surrounded by glaciers, mountains, and pine forests—a heavenly experience. Most tourists just take the cable car up, snap a photo of the lake, and then head back. While that's fine, the hiking views are unparalleled. However, I must emphasize again that it's not suitable for those who are unwell or unable to walk down steep slopes without obstacles/railings.

This is a must visit lake in Switzerland! It took only few hours to get there. There was no available cable car at that time as they are doing there maintenance thingy in preparation for the upcoming winter season. So plan ahead if you are not fund of hiking. But for me, It was so amazing! I enjoyed my time by admiring the beauty of God’s creation. Also , there is no entrance fee needed. You can bring your own mat and foods over there. Even when it rained, the sun was out, I was on the train, and at night, every moment was charming. I usually sleep when I'm on the train, but I couldn't sleep. It was so beautiful :) I went to Zermatt, Grindelwald, Interlaken, and Lucerne! Among them, Lake Oeschinen and Lake Thun were personally impressive. Everyone says that you must go to Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, you must stay in Grindelwald when visiting Jungfrau, and those who are knowledgeable will stay in Interlaken. If you have time, you can go to Lake Thun, or even go deeper into Lake Ernensee and the Blue Lagoon. During my free trip to Switzerland, I planned to stay in this area for four nights. There were too many people in Grindelwald and Interlaken, so the accommodation was relatively expensive and the space was relatively small. Moreover, on the streets of the town, you can mostly see houses and tourists, but no scenery. This time we settled in Apartment Terrasse in Kandersteg under Lake Ernense. Personally, if I had to pick the best place in Switzerland, it would be Lake Oeschinen. If you are visiting Switzerland on a short trip, Lake Oeschinen is likely to be excluded due to time constraints. I was in Switzerland for over a week in mid-May, and since my trip wasn't too tight, I chose the place flexibly depending on the weather. In May, Switzerland was cold because it rained a lot. It was hot on a sunny day. It was raining that day, so I was looking for a place to go and ended up going to Lake Oeschinen. At first, I couldn't see anything because of the rain and clouds, so I just wanted to enjoy the silence and go, but soon after, the rain stopped and the sun came out! The sunlight and clouds reflecting on the emerald water were truly spectacular. In fact, there were no people because it was raining. I think the weather is really hard to predict. #Overseas travel With the Swiss Travel Pass, you can get discounts on various cable cars. If you have a Swiss Pass, you should visit Oeschinen Lake. If you have a Swiss Travel Pass or a Half Fare Card, you can get a 50% discount. Since Jungfrau VIP does not have a discount, you must visit it with a Swiss Pass. If you do not have a pass, a round trip costs 32 francs and a one-way ticket costs 24 francs. If you go up the cable car while enjoying the beautiful scenery and cows, you can reach the top.

Oeschinen Lake is located at Kandersteg Station. Usually, visitors also visit Blausee Lake nearby, and both places can be reached by bus. Like other Swiss travel destinations, the weather is important for Oeschinen Lake as well, so it is recommended to check the webcam in advance. After getting off at Kandersteg Station, there are coin lockers inside the station where you can store your luggage.
