If you’re craving a peaceful getaway without the stress of rushing around, Kampot and Kep make the perfect combo. We took a 3-day, 4-night trip (really just two full days of activity) and it was the ideal balance between relaxation and exploration. 📅 Itinerary Day1: Phnom Penh to Kampot The drive took just 3–4 hours. We didn’t pack anything hectic into the day—just grabbed a coffee at Starbucks Kampot and chilled there with a river view. Great way to ease into the trip. Day2: Bokor Mountain Adventure We headed up Bokor Mountain. It was misty and cold, giving everything a magical vibe. We explored the Vietnamese-Chinese temple, Buddha statues, and some old French colonial ruins. The mountain view is absolutely worth the ride—breathtaking, even in the haze. Day3: Seaside in Kep A quick 40-minute ride brought us to Kep Beach where we relaxed and soaked up the coastal calm. We had lunch at The Wave Kep West—the view? Stunning. The food? Delicious. It’s a little on the pricey side (around $200 for 6 people), but honestly, it was worth every dollar. Day4:Easy Drive Back No rush. The weather was mostly cloudy, so I didn’t feel like exploring the town center much, but I still joined a full-day tour that included all the main activities. 🚗 Getting Around * Some roads in Kampot are in poor condition, especially after rain. * Best to take a tuk-tuk or join a tour if you want to explore the area comfortably. 🏔️ Bokor Mountain Tour – Wouldn’t recommend on cloudy days I did this tour in the morning. Unfortunately, because of the heavy mist and clouds, we couldn’t see anything clearly. Here’s what it included: * 🧘♂️ Big Buddha Statue – completely hidden by the fog. * 🏨 Old Casino turned Hotel – looked abandoned from the outside but apparently costs around $200/night. Interior looked renovated. * 💧 Waterfall – no water during my visit. * 🐒 Monkeys – the highlight of the tour; saw some along the road. * 🕍 Old Catholic Church – interesting but weather ruined the view. 💡 Tip: Avoid Bokor Mountain tour if the weather is bad or visibility is low. 🚜 Countryside Tour (Afternoon) This tour was much more enjoyable. Here's what we visited: * 🌶️ Pepper Plantation * Learned how black pepper is grown and processed. * Tasted different kinds of pepper. * Products were available to buy directly from the farm. * Kampot pepper is exported globally. * 🕳️ Cave Temple * This ancient temple inside a cave is said to be older than Angkor Wat. * Really unique and worth the visit. * 🧂 Salt Fields * Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn't really see much here. 🌇 Sunset in Kampot * Despite the bad weather during the day, the sunset was beautiful on my last evening. * Great views along the riverside.

There are not only waterfalls place it’s also a good place to join our local picnic by renting the cottage from The part of the restaurant or we can go to each directly from the restaurant. You have to buy a ticket when you visit the water falls, also you can get free water bottles for that tickets, water is black but when I go there it’s only few water streams, but good place to visit.

This old casino was painted to another color, so it doesn't look original. You cannot have meals in this area. There are more available parking spaces. Free to entrance. 1000m high above sea levels, a place filled with ruins and great scenery to explore. We did a ride up the mountains and ventured around the place but had too little time to fully appreciate the surroundings.
