#freehotelstay The Royal Park Hotel is located in the center of Kurashiki and just less than 10 minutes walk from the Kurashiki Bikan Hostorical Center. The exterior of the hotel and the lobby very much followed the industrial design, with a lot of glass windows to bring ín natural lights. The lobby was cool and inviting - aside from the check in desk, there was also a bar by the entrance. Guests could get three free drinks ( although not a big glass) from the self service bar. Check in could be done via the front desk , or at the self service machine. There was also a pool table for guest use in the lobby. The rooms were new and clean, and cushions in the room used fabric that were made in Kurashiki. Bathroom was in decent size, and each room also had a free cosmetic pouch with beauty product samples for the guests. Breakfast had a good selection and was served on the top floor which commanded a panoramic view of the city. Parking was available but on a first come first serve basis, with a fee. The two-storey mini museum made me feels like being in a world of jeans. Here, We made our own jeans! We are free to choose our own jeans, buttons, rivets and labels. #tripaway We decided to spend overnight at Yuurin-an Guesthouse, located at the heart of Kurashiki Bikan. The guesthouse seems like a “share house” but in a traditional wooden home. I was told that the house was built over 100 years ago. Interesting! As their tagline goes, “the traditional Japanese house over 100 years”, we were invited by the ‘Futon’ bedding, the bed that Nobita used in Doraemon. One of the special breakfast in Yuurin-an is their “Tamago kake gohan” or a raw egg topped on a rice bowl. One more thing, don’t be surprised when you suddenly saw many people queuing in front of the Guesthouse, as they will turn into a café in the morning. #tripaway

Kurashiki Bikan is also known as the Venice of Japan, as the area features a canal network surrounded by cultural heritage. The buildings in this area are largely former storehouses which have been rejuvenated to become specialty stores, restaurants/cafes and museums. Notable attractions include the Ohara Museum, which is Japan’s first museum for western art, featuring works from artists like Monet. You can also take a short 20 min river ride (like in Venice), with tickets easily available at the tourist information center; do grab your tickets early as the number of spots are limited. There are also many restaurants and cafes where you can chill and people-watch. This area is also famous for its denim, so you will be able to find interesting denim products such as denim kimono.
