Luoyang Longmen Grottoes | One-day tour guide must see
We go out for a trip, always have to go to Longmen Grottoes, see the Lushena Buddha, blow the wind of Xiangshan Temple, feel the grandeur of the millennium grottoes!
Some people say that watching the grottoes is very boring, and they don't want to go a second time after going once. I think that many things can only be understood but not expressed, and it is very interesting to feel the treasures of the millennium stone carving art with your heart. Bai Juyi also said: "The four suburbs of Luodu, the victory of mountains and rivers, Longmen is the first." We must always believe in the eyes of the ancients!
The Longmen Grottoes scenic area is composed of four attractions: Xishan Grottoes, Dongshan Grottoes, Xiangshan Temple, and Baiyuan. The area is not small and there are many steps, which is quite tiring!
1⃣️Tickets🎫: Adults 90/person, half price for students, etc., you can search online for 99 yuan tickets, including Longmen Grottoes, Jiuzhou Pool, Yingtianmen, Paradise...
2⃣️ Transportation🚗: There are buses🚌 and taxis from the high-speed rail Longmen station, 10 yuan/person, taxi🚖 about 20. You can check the bus🚌 route by yourself if you start from the city, there are many, and you need to transfer to the bus from the subway🚇 line 2.
3⃣️There are two entrances: the Northwest Visitor Ticket Center and the Northeast Visitor Service Center. Choose the northwest gate to save time!
4⃣️Route: Xishan Grottoes➡️Cross Mingshui Bridge➡️Dongshan Grottoes➡️Xiangshan Temple➡️Baiyuan
The Xishan Grottoes are the core of the scenic area, and the main grottoes are in Xishan, a spectacular group of grottoes.
The scale of Dongshan Grottoes is not large, there are fewer grottoes, and those who are not interested can not visit, but you can take pictures of the grottoes group on the opposite bank from Dongshan, Lushena Buddha, etc.
Walk from Xishan to Dongshan across the Mingshui Bridge, you can also take pictures of the landscape on the opposite bank without going up the mountain, there is a special viewing platform.
Xiangshan Temple is on the top of Xiangshan, and you have to go up a steep step, which is not high. There is a villa where Chiang Kai-shek once lived. Personally, I think it can be filmed for photography, but there are not many landscapes. You can go if you have enough time!
Baiyuan is the real tomb of Bai Juyi, there is a teahouse inside, if the weather is good, you can sit in the afternoon. Very comfortable! There is nothing else to see, you can ignore it if you are not interested!
Next is the question that everyone cares about most, "Will the lights of the Longmen Grottoes be on? When will they be on"
For the protection of cultural relics, the Longmen Grottoes have now stopped night tours, but the small Buddha niches use solar lights, so as long as the sun sets in the west (about 6 o'clock), the lights will still turn on automatically! The staff along the way all said that the lights would not be on. I suspect it was their unified rhetoric. Then around 6 o'clock, the staff of the battery car would keep shouting "Get off work, get off work, hurry up and take the car out of the park", in fact, there is no need to hurry, even without a battery car, it only takes 10 minutes to walk out of the scenic area from the Buddha Offering Platform. But what needs to be mentioned here is that the lights are all small Buddha niches. As for whether the Lushena Buddha niche will light up, it depends entirely on the Buddha's fate. Some bloggers say that it will light up around 7 o'clock. Anyway, when I went there, I waited until 7 o'clock and it didn't light up. People also left one after another, so I wish you good luck!
Majestic Longmen Grottoes of Luoyang!
Luoyang Longmen Grottoes are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Situated in the hostorical coty of Luoyang in Central China, Longmen Grottoes are one of the most important cultural sites in China. You can see the thousand years old stone carvings and how they perfectly build the statues. Definitely worth to visit! Avoid holiday season as it may be filled with people. Be ready for a long distance walk.
An Afternoon at Longmen Grottoes
The Longmen Grottoes are located near Luoyang city in Henan Province, and are a must-visit attraction when in the area. There are tens of thousands of statues of the Buddha and his disciples here, carved right into the rock face and in the mutliple different caves that are dotted along the limestone cliff face.
There are said to be more than 2,000 caves and niches carved into the cliff, and the entire thing stretches over 1km. It's pretty impressive to visit and marvel at all the details.
If you want a great view of the long stretch of carvings from afar, hop to the other side of the Yi River - there is a viewing platform where you can see a great panoramic view of the grottoes.

Michaela (@uncoveringcities) Great place for a day trip
If you’re looking for a place to escape new buildings and skyscrapers, Longmen is a good place for you. It’s doable in a day from Luoyang or Zhengzhou and you can have a nice walk around.
Most pictures were taken with my DJI Mini 2.

Lushena Buddha. Luoyang, Long Men site.
lunshena Buddha is hugest one in the are and this is visit card, the symbol of Long Men and whole Luoyang City. The statures are enormous big! There is only one question coming up to the mind, how ancient masters could create this kind of art and religious objects? Their spirits we really empowered by some supernatural forces! It is unbelievable! When you look at it, well around, you have no words to describe your feelings.
#TOTD Longmen Grottoes worship Buddha
Longmen Grottoes, the largest Buddha statue - Lushen Buddha, for Sakyamuni's body of Buddha, according to the Buddhist scriptures, Lushe that means bright. It is said that its face is shaped by Wu Zetian as a prototype, but it is difficult to make people associate with a cold and arbitrarily arrogant generation of empresses.
This Buddha statue has a height of 17.14 meters, a head height of 4 meters, and an ear length of 1.9 meters. The Buddha's face is full and round, the top of the head is wavy hairline, and the double eyebrows are like a new moon, attached to a pair of show eyes, gazing slightly. Below. High straight nose, small mouth, showing a peaceful smile. Both ears are long and slightly sag, and the lower jaw is round and slightly protrudes forward. Harmony and harmony, peace and quiet, wearing a shoulder-shoulder style, the clothes pattern is simple and simple, a circle of concentric circles of clothing, the head is very clear and holy. The whole Buddha statue is like a wise and kindly middle-aged woman who is respectful and fearful.
The Longmen Grottoes | A thousand years later, the gaze that remains is one of devotion
The Longmen, also known as Yique, are where the eastern and western mountains face each other, with the Yi River flowing through them.
The story of the fish leaping through the Dragon's Gate took place here and has been passed down through the ages.
How similar is the appearance of the giant Buddha of Lushena on the western mountain cliff to that of Empress Wu Zetian? The answer has already concluded on the stage of history, and we cannot know.
Only the thousand grottoes sculptures reveal the past splendor and also protect the peace and tranquility of the world.
